So the go to move on this board is to say - last year's team would have lost this close game. Are we allowed to say - last year's team would have blown this Memphis team out? Or is that a bridge too far?

But we DID have Smart, who if nothing else, never lacked from the effort side which is what the Cs seemed to be missing.

Pretty sure dude was saying it was a foul   and Porzingis was telling him he was out his mind.

For a more clear understanding, the Cs just lost too many games to inferior teams last season.

From losing back to back games, both in Boston, to Orlando, to getting embarrassed by OKC, the Cs just lost a handful of games that they shouldn't have.

Cs should have won 60 games last season.

This season the Cs so far haven't lost to inferior teams like Memphis or Washington.

Regarding the 3pt shooting, it's true the Griz were not better than the Cs if it's based on percentage.

But no way Aldama making 6 3s is normal or Vince Williams going 2-3 from 3 is normal.

Even Bane making 7 3s is above his season average.

What's important is the Cs got the W.

The way the game was trending, Cs would have lost if this was last season.

Didn’t have to pass the ball. We were up. Yup, Jrue should have made that dunk, but he was bothered by JJJ and hurried the shot.

Tatum didn't have to pass the ball, but it's a risk to hold the ball and get trapped which was about to happen.

For real though..

Aand yea... Porzingis needs more looks. Dude's been playing out his mind and deserves more. Let's see if he gets more.
Good assessment:

It was the worst win of the season, which dropped the Cs further into the best record in the league, and extended their humiliating winning streak to six games.

We have the best crunch time numbers in the NBA. Yes, they lost games like this last year. Part of it is luck, part of it is they now have a third player who is an elite offensive player.

KP is massively underrated. People just laughed him off for injuries because it didn't work in Dallas. He got hurt. That sucks, but if he doesn't get hurt and can play 70 games. He's terrific.

This game was just terrible all-around so I'm not even going there with the "they would've lost this game last year" stuff but yeah KP is extremely underrated. I think he's the 2nd best player on the team tbh.

KP's #1 issue as a player by far is his injury history and you're always going to be worried about that with him. But he really doesn't have many flaws as a player at this point since he GREATLY improved his post game and defense. He sometimes gets pushed around a little bit or has issues dealing with super athletic or physical centers (like Embiid or Bam) but he's so solid most of the time.

Side note: feels like it's been awhile since he hit a 3

10 straight minutes?!?! Too bad it's a 48 minute game and he should have told them what to do for the other 38 minutes. Now I see why so many were glad to get rid of him.

The problem here is, this has been the case for several games now.

Need some offensive diversity when the 3s aren't falling and this team (with the exception of Hauser) is generally not a very good 3 point shooting team.

The Celtics shot slightly better from three though lol, just didn’t take enough of them.

This team is also loaded with good shooters, c’mon.

The Red Hot Grizzlies also shot worse from 3 than the Cs. They just took more of em. Weird game to complain about Cs taking 3s when this was the 2nd least amount we took this season in terms of 3-pt attempt rate.

What stood out is the 21 second chance points (season-high) we gave up. The Grizzlies shot poorly esp from 2 all game but we couldn't secure the board to finish defensive possessions.

I don't so much look into the stats as I do at the actual games, but what I saw these past few games was a team that continued to shoot threes as their primary offense which I think is not sustainable even if you are the Golden State Warriors. I'm just not a fan of the 3-ball offense, even if the NBA has become a 3-pt shooting league. They have so much talent in this team to just relagate themselves to chucking beyond the arc, and on nights where their 3s aren't falling, they've been lucky to still come out with wins.

Nice win.

KP and Hauser for VC. Both were great.

KP did it all. 26 points, 8 rebounds and 6 blocks. He potentially saved the game from going into OT with his 6th block to end the game.

Hauser was lights out.

With Brown, White and Jrue struggling with their shots and Tatum being careless with the ball with 8 TOs, KP and Hauser carried the team.

Nice to see Queta and Stevens play, even though it was limited minutes. This is a game we lose last year.

But I mean, they shot 39% from three last night, which is really good.

Their problems last night were turnovers, poor execution, not taking enough threes, and a very inconsistent whistle.

I honestly don't even think it's close as far as KP being 2nd best on the team. I'm really hoping the Tatum/KP action becomes a well oiled machine and they just ram it down opponents throats for wins. Once or If they get it down it just seems so OP - the roll/lob option Boston had with Rob Will but with the added threat of KP with the pick and pop for 3 as well.

And plus Porzingis really keeps his eyes open for that Brown backdoor cut. It's hopefully gonna be such an amazing triple threat as they come together.

Amazing how many games last years team would have lost, despite almost winning 60 games.

I don't care for how deep KP tends to shoot 3s. I wish he would shoot it more closer to the line.
