Re: Jordan Love Thread - All Aboard the Love Train
It seems like he has one huge missed deep ball per game and that has killed his overall numbers. Should have had an 83 yard TD to Musgrave yesterday. I can think of at least three other missed Musgrave TD. A few deep missed to Watson.
It’s not an arm strength issue, but he has continually put too much air under the ball on deep throws.

Re: Jordan Love Thread - All Aboard the Love Train
Not much of a running game to speak of mostly because the line is not great at run blocking and the only RB threat has been injured most of the year.
A "#1" WR who is really a "#3".
A veteran "TE" or H-Back or whatever they want to call him this week who can't play.
A revolving door of below average play at LT.
That he has done as well as he has is a tribute to Love and the chemistry he has built up with Reed, Wicks, and Musgrave and last I checked all 3 of those guys are rookies.
Jordan was tossed into a very difficult situation and has handled it pretty well.
Not ready to crown him and the flaws pointed out by others are real (especially the deep ball) but he has done about as well could be expected under the circumstances.

I'm definitely in the doubter category but he's absolutely played better lately and yesterday was his best game by a mile. Props to him and I hope he keeps it up.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Yesterday's game was the first time I've thought he looked the part of a franchise QB. Progress

I think this is the biggest thing with Love. Early in the year he struggled mightly on deep shots. But the last 4 weeks he's actually been one of the better QBs in the league at them

Re: Jordan Love Thread - All Aboard the Love Train
Yesterday was by far his most encouraging performance. The TD drive to put us up front is the exact thing you want to see from your QB. Think we'll have a better beat on where he's actually at over the course of the next four games. The Giants are terrible, but Tampa, KC, and Detroit will give us a better measuring stick. Quality performances throughout those three games, and I'll start to change my tune. Consider me standing on the ledge, but my toes aren't hanging off right now.
With that being said, I just find it hard to get excited about the Rams with Rypien, that Steelers performance, and a Staley Chargers team that can't seem to win a tight contest if their lives depended on it ESPECIALLY when that ball to QJ had us dead to right. Love seems to be okay when the game script is tight and opportunities are there. When we're playing from behind and the pressure is on, he tends to make some really awful decisions that a franchise QB just shouldn't make.

Another great sign. Love early on really struggled with pressure. The last few weeks he's been much better in that area

I find this disingenuous, and I don't even think Hurts is THAT good so much as he benefits from that team around him.
18 total TDs 10 Ints 2330 yards
vs.
19 total TDs 9 Ints and 2600 yards!
OMG, Jordan Love is Patrick Mahomes!?

It's a dumb tweet with a noticeable crop of QBR. No account for rushing yards and rushing TDs or completion percentage.

Re: Jordan Love Thread - All Aboard the Love Train
I think Love has been good this year(specifically lately). But he's not a top 5 guy at the moment. He deserves credit for his play the last few weeks, but let's not act like he's an MVP candidate or anything.

Re: Jordan Love Thread - All Aboard the Love Train
Love is working with zero-impact players and a bunch of youth. They are top 10 in drops which will kill Love's QBR and most raw statistics. I'm just happy he's stringing together decent games and the offense seems to be moving better.

Drops don't kill QBR. Hell, QBR was in part invented because drops killed QB rating.

EPA still calculates drops as part of the total calculation in the QBR. Sure QBR tries to separate the blame in the play but you can still get a negative impact from drops.

I'm actually not sure how much to read into this but it's interesting.

Total guess:
With the shell defense every NFL team now plays, QBs are rarely throwing deep. Lesser QBs like Love are only going to do it on a schemed shot play, "he's wide open," etc.
Tua, Mahomes, Hurts, etc. either have Hill/AJ Brown, "**** it, I'm tossing it deep to him" or are Mahomes and have the arm worth trying it and therefore throw some extra dangerous balls, percentage-wise.

No accounting for 1 guy with outstanding receivers that go get the ball vs 2 rookies teaching 2 second year guys how to play.
No accounting for 1 guy behind an elite offensive line and the other behind an inexperienced patchwork work in progress.

The inexperienced offensive line with 163 starts between them?
