Re: PG Celtics - Bucks Fall
Amazing how much the Celtics homers on RealGM are talking about the refs nearly handing us this one. Not sure if they saw Dame getting fouled on every single drive to the basket and not getting calls. Giannis hacked his usual amount as well. Brook wrestled and grabbed under the rim by Tatum in the last quarter and a no call.
Having said that, we whinged far too much about it in-game.

Khris’s minutes increased but he’s still not 100%. In the first half he was deferring on open looks, which was odd. Cooked on defense but so was everyone else.
Brook had a nice game.
Giannis can play smart basketball for a game or two and then reverts back.
Dame missed shots in the first half, still damn glad we have him come playoff time. Dame needs to initiate EVERY possession. EVERY. POSSESSION.
EVERY **** POSSESSION.
This really isn't difficult.

Boston playing the play-off rotations as well. They definitely took this one as seriously as it gets in November. Just the 8 players hitting the floor.

Hoping SidneyLanier took the Bucks +5.
Sweet cover if so.

Everyone got toasted on defense. Beasley wasn't the worst
On this board marjon could be -25 AJJ could be -17 beas could be +20 yet the same dudes on this board would still single out beas as the main problem dude on D hes far from it
Single game +/- means nothing. Also, this game AJJ and Marjon both clearly were a lot more engaged on defense and successful at keeping a man at least somewhat in front of them.
Beasley is not a good player.

Celtics close out on shooters. Bad defenses don’t. Plus role players usually play better at home than on the road.

Beasley seems like a good teammate who wants to play good defense, but I think it’s too many years not playing good defense, he’s not good at it. Throws rotations out of whack because he doesn’t stay with his man, like he’s not close to his guy, he’s standing still or way off balance or fallen.
Would love AJJ in the starting lineup. On offense he’s playable too, he’s not afraid to shoot the open three and he looks good in the dunker spot.

Because for some reason they have to run Dame/Beas/Midds/Giannis/Brook at the start of each half and to close. So unless they want to risk Giannis foul trouble, they need to put Midds on Tatum some.
It’s fixable by making sure one of Crowder/Dre is always on the floor when Tatum is in future matchups.
That plus putting Brook on Jrue and Dame on KP is what I would do against them. (Brook will be at the rim so they can’t just post up KP).

Re: PG Celtics - Bucks Fall
Feel better about this game than I probably should. Seems like there were a few possessions where guys are still feeling each other out (Dame missed oop, Giannis travel, etc) where they are over thinking how to get each other involved.
Giannis also hit the floor way less, didn't have any charges and just flat out missed shots vs Celtics stopping him. Dame despite playing crappy most of game showed why he's an upgrade over Jrue.
Really need khris to magically get healthy in six months

Not even close. I’m surprised there aren’t more people clamoring for Mids to come off the bench and be our Ginobli. It makes sense imo
I’d bring Midds and Beas off the bench. Run Midds post ups with Beas feeding him and being the one pass off guy.
I’d start Marjon and Dre with Dame/Giannis/Brook. The starting lineup needs that energy and defense. Plus then you distribute the minutes of the higher volume shooters.
The current starting lineup is too many guys who need shots to get in rhythm. Beas ability to be a flamethrower when he gets on a heater is wasted as a starter because four other guys need to get shots first. So he just ends up standing around.

The irony of this is that Giannis is all about championships and that's all he cares about but to get to the best odds of that happening, a system needs to be established to allow the team to be at its best, and that includes trusting Lillard with the ball.

If true, that's disappointing. Looked like he was actually getting into him.

Imagine what the Celtics are going to look like when Porzingis and Horford are inevitably hurt.
Yikes

Re: PG Celtics - Bucks Fall
Midds is never going to be laterally quick again. His value is whatever he gives on offense (that part of his game is aging well based on the Miami series) and being in the right spot and using his length defensively.
Another reason Beas doesn’t work with the starters is he adds another limitation to the defense of the starting lineup. They already have to navigate Brook’s foot speed, Midds lateral quickness, and Dame’s height. Adding another issue and a guy who isn’t good in rotations just exasperates the issue. Toss in Dre or Marjon in place of Beas and it would make the defense more cohesive.
Beas can still get bench minutes for his shooting, and extended PT if he is on a heater, but he just doesn’t fit with what you need alongside Dame/Midds/Giannis/Brook. And redundant because he just won’t get his shots with those guys.

I dont think Horford is quite as big of a deal against other teams as he is against us, but big AGREE on KP. If KP could stay healthy, he never would have bounced around the league this much. The Celtics would not have been able to get him for what they did if not for that massive asterisk. Very talented player, big gamble on their part. It COULD pay off but odds are it wont.

+/- for the game is mildly interesting. All the Celts starters minus KP were in the negative. They won the bench minutes pretty handily though.

simple solution is to start Dre or Marjon for Beasley

I did like whoever figured out to just send Brook to the rim every play. You miss, he grabs it. Someone helps, throw it up to him.
He also caused a lot of drivers to spin around and throw wild kick outs. Just happened their shooters still hit shots off that.

The sooner Jackson gets regular run with the starters, the better. He's like Battier on a pogo stick.
