Hauser, Horford and Pritchard combined to shoot 6-10 from 3 and combined to score 31. Without them, we probably don't win.

Al with maybe his best game of the season. 11 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.

Horf was great on D, but still passive on offense, other than chucking 3’s. Jrue needs to come out of this slump for us to really take off. Oh well, a win is a win. On to the next game against celtics killer magic
Team.

White was decent with 6 TOs? I thought Horford was an excellent playmaker.

White was decent, especially early on. Made some shots early. Horf does nothing but playmake, i give him that. Other than chuck 3’s, he totally abandoned trying to shoot inside. He got the ball several times w/in 3-5ft of the basket with almost no defender, or at least a smaller one, and the moment he touched the ball, he was already on the move to pass. Same thing he did game 7 against the heat, when he passed the ball out to JT, leading to the injury. I think he should at least think of shooting the ball. He could actually dunk that already. A much higher percentage shot. He’s too unselfish.

Jaylen for me, with Al CP.

Was at the game, loved it until the end, but happy enough tonight. Onward!

Joe has to trust some of the other bench guys or Brad needs to bring in vets that Joe will play. We can't go most games with this 8-man rotation or these guys will be gassed come postseason.

That 8-man rotation is only for teams like the Bucks.

Joe wanted that win.

This. Out of the 28 teams that played last night, we were the only team to play less than 9 guys. The next closest two teams, who only played a ninth guy for a brief minute, were teams that had 4 and 5 players on the injury report. We had none.

I think it's just a case of Joe treating this game like a playoff game.

Joe wanted the win.

In other games, Joe uses 9 or 10 men.

MPG from last season to this one:
Horford 30.5 -> 24
Brown 35.9 -> 33.8
Porzingis 32.6 -> 31.2
Tatum 36.9 -> 36.9
Holiday 32.6 -> 34.6
White 28.3 -> 31.3 (not a huge bump for a guy that became an every day starter in the offseason)

It would be great if Mazzulla could find a few couple more minutes of rest for Tatum and Holiday but overall I think those guys minutes are fairly reasonable. There's a good chance that once Boston starts playing more tanking teams and when seeding is more locked in that you can scale those minutes back even further if need be.

Celtics only play three guys off the bench because they have enough versatility in their top 6 that they can just fit those 3 guys into nearly any lineups so they can concentrate their bench minutes in their best bench players. They don't have to give minutes to their 10th guy because he is the only back up center on the roster or whatever. Just looking at how many bench guys enter the game is a flawed metric and the Celtics bench plays a fair amount.

For instance Milwaukee played 10 guys during the game but their bench played 81 total minutes vs 71 for the Celtics and most of that difference boils down to Middleton not being able to handle his usual minutes.

Probably.

Used just 8 guys against Raptors. Just 8 additional minutes for Queta and Stevens as 9th or 10th men in Grizzlies game apart from core 8. We see Kornet every now and again. So it’s more like 8.5. He tends to go deeper in his bench in 1st half against weaker teams.

Why games like the ones vs Hornets and Grizzlies are annoying. Those are the type of games where they had a chance to rest some of the main guys in the 4th if they took care of business early.

3rd straight game with a poor final quarter. Gotta fix that.

While not as bad as it used to be, I wish Joe doesn't have to wait at least an 8-0 run to call a timeout. A 5-0 run in the fourth could be pivotal enough to warrant a timeout.

Still a good win at home against a rival.

I don't think it's a big deal.

Only Jrue is 30 years old or older among starters.

The main guys, except maybe White, want lots of minutes so that they'll end up with good stats.

Great team win. We got the most focused version of JB (must have heard the criticism, 'cause his attitude was different) and the most confident version of Horford. Pritchard is back. All awesome news. KP was amazing but I'm really pissed on the whistle he gets. Unfair.

And Jrue keeps on seemingly forcing things, I guess he'll go through these stretches sometimes. It was important to win today after a loss and against the Bucks and we did that. Best record in the league, keep it going.

Imagine loving playing with JB more than Doncic. What a time to be alive.

This board needs to learn the difference between the other team going on a run and the Celtics collapsing.

Ultimately, i dont think we've learned much about either team that we didn't already suspect. They can't really contain our penetration whatsoever and Dame/Giannis combo is hell. We suspected as much so i suppose its nice to get confirmation.

Anyway good win. On to the next.
