The Magic won the FG% battle (how?!?!?), and won the game !

Some mind boggling stats:
Denver took 12 more FGs
Denver made 5 more 3-balls
Denver has less TOs
Denver had more rebounds
Denver had many more offensive rebounds.
And yet the Magic won. Why?

Free Throws. The Magic DOMINATED made FTs this game. Orlando was fantastic at making their bevy of attempts. The 26-30 FT line is a thing of beauty!

Oh: and the Magic was 65% with their 2-ball. That didn't "hurt".

Also this stat...

DEN has 17 Offensive Rebound and had 20pt 2nd xhance pts
ORL only had 11 Offensive Rebound but had 22pt 2nd chance pts

We're tied for #2 on defense now, and our offense is up to #21.

Another quality win. Beating the champs on a second night of a B2B is always impressive and we did it in style. And mostly with offense for a change. Denver couldn't stop us except when we committed silly turnovers. Jokic got his as expected but we outscored them and also took advantage of his mediocre effort on the defensive end, he was much better defensively in the playoffs.

Great to see Franz getting out of his shooting slump in the second half. Paolo's shooting improvement from 3 is very much welcome too. Ingles with another brilliant passing game, I just love watching him run the P&R. And he hit some 3s too. Cole was very good scoring wise and on the boards, but his playmaking was subpar.

True, but the magic truly need that shooter out on the perimeter to be a contender. They really need that Harris type in the starting lineup. They are lucky Blacks’ poor play didn’t affect the win.

I wish people would stop making proclamations on what this team can and can’t do because you’ve all been wrong.
this right here . People swear they know lol

Yeah i was curious as well... anyone chime in?

Pretty sure it was gamesmanship by Jokic. He saw the Magic essentially taking a de-facto timeout when the refs were reviewing whether or not the Nuggets should be in the bonus. Timeouts are probably more important for younger teams in late game situations as oppose to vets like the Nuggets so disrupting that is probably more valuable than talking to Malone.

Is it a mental thing? Dude was hitting 3s despite in your face defense. Yet in garbage time he cant hit it at all.

It is. There's a totally different level of pressure coming into the game and trying to "prove yourself".... than going into the game knowing you are allowed to dig deep and see what you got. Experience gets you out of your own head.

Oh we saw that and it was pretty funny.

We were asking why that long interruption happened. And what was it for? Like can you just approach the refs for that?

I find it interesting that our starting unit played 13 mins and our bench unit played 10 mins yesterday. I wonder how common it is to have a full bench unit play almost as many minutes as the full starting unit. The bench unit also fully cooked during their time on the court, though in fairness the starters went toe to toe against Denver's starters.

Edit:
Something that annoys me / worries me about Mosley's rotations is that he'll play Black with the starters and then it seems like he avoids playing him at all, leaves him out of any staggered lineups. Cole has completely won all the PG mins outside of the stints to start the first and second halfs. That isn't cool, man. Especially in this game, in the second half Black had 7 mins with the starters and Cole had 5, and those all in the 4th quarter. I remember seeing Cole get pulled during the Bucks game for Black in the second half and he threw a fit, I think he's used some leverage to make it clear that he's the crunch time PG. I also think Mosley is happy to lean on him over Black. I don't like the trend at all, Cole isn't better than Black idgafos what people say.

Last night was the only time I understood the decision to play Cole over Black in the second half. Black's inexperience showed more yesterday than in any other game in my opinion

What a great performance. Nice to see Franz come up big in this one.

I like this team.
