Wolves vs Kings 11/24/23
Wolves missing McDaniels Kings missing Keegan Murray.
KEEGAN MURRAY
11/23/2023 2:30:48 PM
Murray (back) has been ruled out for Friday’s matchup against the Timberwolves, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports. Murray will miss a second consecutive game due to the injury, and the Kings are going to be cautious with their starting power forward. Sasha Vezenkov and Trey Lyles are candidates to absorb some of Murray's minutes, and his next chance to play will come next Tuesday against the Warriors.
I think that's a wash. Kings have a good team. Fox and Sabonis ain't no joke. We will have to play our best to win.

Tomorrow’s game vs the Kings has In-Season Tournament implications
West - Group C
Sacramento Kings (2-0)
Minnesota Timberwolves (2-0)
Golden State Warriors (1-1)
Oklahoma City Thunder (1-2)
San Antonio Spurs (0-3)
Sacramento Kings (2-0) vs Minnesota Timberwolves (2-0)
Winner likely takes top spot in the group, and the loser will battle for a wildcard; Kings are at +16 and Wolves at +10 point differential so a close loss here will still be vital as they play their last game (Kings vs Warriors, Wolves vs Thunder)

Eventually we will lose again and it'll suck. Hope it isn't to the Kings

Let's save that for 12/11 to 1/3. There are lots of chances during that stretch. Kings are at the end of a six game road trip. I hope they had a great Thanksgiving down in Bourbon Street and just getting ready to pack their bags to get home tonight.

I want to keep stacking these tournament wins. I will be bummed if we lose this one.

Also, how silly does the NBA media look right now not having us for barely any national games? I get expectations were not high but we still have Anthony Edwards and we still were a playoff team while missing a top 3 player. We definitely could have had a handful more games.

This game is essentially for the group. If we win, we move on to the next round.

As far as I know the In-Season tournament has no implications for anything other than extra money for the players.

Let's try to do it very seldom.
And let’s make this our team cheer!

Really not much different from when our team wins anything else though. It’s just fun to see the Wolves win.

-Players get money.
-Players get a cup
-Inaugural tournament
-National TV coverage
-We get to hang a banner
I say its worth it. It's also a nice little boost and we get to make a little statement mid-season. Also lets say we win and we make some noise in the playoffs, people will use this as an example for a springboard. "Minnesota won the In-Season Tournament and that propelled them to the Western conference finals later in that season." If it becomes a trend they will start talking about it like they talk about US players getting the Olympic boost. It can become a thing and become more important over the years to come. Teams winning the tournament may become an indicator or a team on the rise or a team that's going to have a good season in general.

Wins mean making the playoffs and playoff seeding.

IMO it's better to win than not win. Other than that it's meaningless to me besides the games also count in the playoff seedings.

We also get to watch one extra game of basketball!
Honestly, I think that some folks in the national media will still find a way to clown on Minnesota if they win the in-season tournament, but I think it would be pretty cool to win the first one ever.

Re: Wolves vs Kings 11/24/23
After BOS lose to ORL, Twolves are now all alone with the best record in the NBA. I don't think we ever have the best record this late into the season. So tonight's game is fairly important. It's both in-season playoff and also hold on to best NBA record for a couple days.

If the Lakers win the In-Season Tournament it will be a massive accomplishment. If we win it will be a meaningless promotional gimmick.
