I guess JB feels like he can do whatever he wants on the court now that Marcus Smart is gone who used to get into arguments with him. This is where a real coach or a real veteran leader would step in and tell the guy you’re playing selfish basketball. Tatum ain’t gonna do it and neither is Mazzulla

How? Well this one loss was very revealing and the sooner the team learns this the better. Circumstances matter of course, but the team showed a clear inability to adapt and most of all it clearly showed our lack of leadership.
Oh yeah like hell it did. The team got exposed for its lack of leadership and this can't be stressed enough because it's extremely important in the long run. Tell me who's the Celtics vocal leader? No one? Horford maybe? The team got rid of the ones we had (Smart and Grant) but now someone has to do it. Most of our guys are timid personalities.
Neither Jayson, Jaylen nor Joe have proved to be the leader we need in games like this.
Today's debacle is a big revelation of the attitude problem that has been lingering with us for years. Of course the top teams won't win every game but you've got to at least show some fight and pride. The Celtics today showed none of that.
When we got down in the 3rd quarter there was no reaction until the end whatsoever. None at all in like 15 minutes of game time. No picks, no cuts, lazy passing and individual offense. It was frankly shameful to watch. They know better, they were just not set up to do it.
Joe's lack of resourcefulness was exposed again today. He had no counter. Players didn't believe in him even if he tried (that I don't know). No player stepped up, no one talked to each other. Really don't you see that Joe? Brad? It's worrysome.
The 4th quarter's spectacle was pathetic. It would be very rare to see this in Europe on a professional level. Hell even high-school teams are taught to counter with pride, even if they're losing by 20. I'm not kidding or exaggerating if you're familiar with European basketball. Regular season being a washed up product and all that you want, but come the fck on, show some attitude.
Either this changes or this team won't win a championship. It's not supposed to be easy. All teams need leaders, vocal leaders and energy guys, we got none of that today. Hope it changes.
End of rant. Go Cs.
PS: Btw, awesome thread title Bisme
Nah! I’m fine we got rid of Smart!!!!
Fake leader! You lead by example, and Smart is an awful one. Tatum and Joe should be the leader on this team in order for them to be successful. Until Tatum and Brown learns to prioritize winning at all cost, than getting their stats, this team won’t win it all, or struggle to win if shooting is off on the Jays.

He did the same thing all those years when Smart was here. He was the same under Ime, same under Brad. At some point it's not Joe's fault or Tatum's fault or Smart's fault that Jaylen is the way he is. It's Jaylen Brown's fault. And given that he's a growed up man and not likely to change his character or personality, it is ultimately Brad's fault for not trading him away and instead rewarding him with the largest contract in NBA history.

Eddie House - easy to excuse this and that, oh one game, oh shots didn't fall
No rebounds no rings, 4th straight game like this
Becoming a habit, then a habit becomes identity
Rest of league will see, get physical and you'll get back in and go on to win
Nothing easy for JB - coaches gotta put him a better spot to succeed when not going (I'd second this for all team members)

The problem is, this team still chuck 3’s non stop even if shots ain’t falling. This is on Joe and the the Jays. This has been the problem in the conf finals last year. I remember guys like shaq and barkley been calling out the celtics shooting horrible from 3, and still keeps shooting them. Something needs to be done. I think it’s with the coach. If we have this lineup against the warriors, i think we would have won that chip.

I think they actually played a round of flag football instead. Maybe read up on how to pass guard. For Jiu Jitsu, though. Definitely not basketball defenses.

Not that I want Ime back, but at least Ime holds his players accountable. I don't see that in Joe.
Sorry for the constant rants against the coach, but Brad could have done better.

Hauser and Horford might be the only playable guys in the Playoffs. Kornet can’t defend or rebound. Pritch isn’t good at all if his shot isn’t falling (which has been the case most of the season), and everyone else just sucks

Unfortunately the league already knows that. First 7-8 games we were getting felt out but there’s definitely a recipe that works against this team

It’s the Celtics fault for giving him 300M. I would have been fine getting peanuts in return, than sign him with that money. Should have traded him for Sabonis years back when we had the chance lol.

Accountability is impossible with this coach. If anyone even suggests a problem, the coach gets offended on the players' behalf and defends them.

Yep, agreed. if they didn't know already, the Toronto game showcased it

Bench gave us a lead in the 4th of the Hornets game. No JT, Jrue, KP, or JB in that stretch. Brissett was brutal. -11 in 5 minutes. Eek. Kornet did his job early then Magic realized they can just attack him over and over. Not sure why Joe didn't adjust. Play zone, hide him in the corner. Try something else other than watch him get blown by four straight times.
And more likely than not, when this team resorts to DIY basketball, you'll get less contributions from the less talented players.

Non-Celtics fans see it. It's a problem. Even after we've gotten rid of the scapegoat Smart.

PierceFan4ever wrote:JB 6-22? Did he finish that game shooting like 1-15 or some **** after a hot start? Nothing worse than watching him continue to chuck when he’s struggling. Some plays he’ll dribble run up to the three and fire away barely hitting the rim or other plays no ball movement just chucking a bricked three….i guess it is true the only reason he was passing so well last game because he was scoring efficiently. Even today, he started the game passing well early because he hit some shots but once he starts bricking, he forgets everything and becomes a relentless chucker trying to see the ball go in. It’s hard to watch. Feels like it was never this bad before but he’s taking this season to another level.
He should not be allowed to do that, plain and simple. If the person telling him that had an idea of how to counter.

Dunno how the tracking works and what it really indicates, but the Celtics have the second lowest speed in the NBA behind the Lakers. I think it's a choice that they play slow and methodical. Also the second lowest distance traveled on offense. Whatever that means.
The counter to physical, big teams may be to play with more pace and movement, I dunno.

It’s November.
Meh.
Tatum was still sick most likely, we spent all our energy beating the Bucks.
Magic are a good team that is physical.
Burn the tape and come home.
