Watched first episode of the new season of Fargo and I already hate it because there is a guy that's supposed to be good at golf that looks like the first time he swung a club was when they called "action"
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

Ah that’s a nitpick lol. I’ve watched both episodes, I like it. Offbeat as always. Jon Hamm is great.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I saw that too, and all I could think was, "you didn't need to show him swinging a club at all."

Im a snob about actors shooting jump shots. I can tell if they are decent with one shot. Sounds like you all do that with golf (im golf ignorant).

Would you mind giving an explainer as to why? I was going to go Saturday but between glimpses of headline reviews and this, I'm second guessing.
Also, have you seen Kingdom of Heaven and what is your opinion of it? :D

I love Kingdom of Heaven. The battle scenes in Napoleon are fantastic. There is almost zero character development in any character outside of Napoleon and Josephine. They kind of touch on each change in leadership of France from Marie Antoinette on but basically just lip service in the shouting in the directory for the most part. Most of the movie is Napoleon and Josephine whining and sniveling to each other, which was apparently their love story. Lots of eating and drinking around a dinner table so don’t go in hungry. Eh. I would rather see a documentary with commentary on the battles. Overall it was an awful empty movie, three hours of when is the next battle.

Should've heeded your words but I had to see for myself. You were spot on :nonono:

Maybe the director's cut improves it like Kingdom of heaven? But jeez it's a pretty big mess so not even sure where to start. Less Napoleon and Josephine but I have the feeling there's more haha.

I was looking forward to it but the reviews haven't been great. I'm sure I'll eventually watch, though.

88% on rotten tomatoes

We watched the first two eps last night. I'm in.
Kind of has a Halt and Catch Fire + murder mystery vibe.

Saw Killers of the Flower Moon this past week. Have to say, I thought it was really **** good. Yes, it is very long. But unlike The Irishman, which had me checking my watch multiple times throughout, I found myself wanting more at the end of this one.

I wanted more of the FBI stuff. More of the hammer dropping. And I loved the opening where they set the tone and era. The editing solution would have been to take a bit out of the middle. Some court stuff could have been cut.

Yeah, I could have used some of the post-federal trial stuff as well. But I thought that the way they handled the prologue was quite brilliant.

I know people will balk at the runtime. Perhaps they could have shaved a few minutes here and there and maybe brought it down closer to three hours. But I never found myself feeling bored with it.

Watched The Killer this week. I liked it more than the in-laws did, but probably still my least favorite Fincher movie that I've seen (granted I skipped some like Mank and Benjamin Button).

Just kind of a thriller movie minus the thrills.

Cautiously optimistic for the Fallout and new Alien series. Streaming companies committing big budgets and hiring established show-runners has been a boon for sci-fi content recently, but it still needs a good script and actors to work (see: Silo, Foundation). Not just a big VFX budget with lazy writing (see: The Peripheral, Raised by Wolves Season 2, etc.).

The Halo series really illustrated how a massive gaming IP can go tits up in a hurry. God that show was terrible.
