He's been terrible for Memphis, he was addition by subtraction for Boston, but he'd help here?
He's a fraud. His foul baiting focus is useless on a team outside of Boston, the only team the league gives preferentional officiating.
Smart is not a fraud, he is a solid perimeter defender that can defend up. So far the Memphis experiment has failed, more so because he should not be playing point and he no longer has much better offensive players surrounding him to make up for his deficiencies. With the Bucks, he would become the defensive backbone this team sorely lacks, whether or not you believe his talent is legit, there is no arguing with his ability to provide leadership and a mentality that the Bucks certainly could use. He would also be one of the few players in the league that would not be afraid to hold his teammates accountable on the defensive side of the ball. I would not trade even a broken down Midds for him, but I would for sure trade a package of Bobby and Pat, I would also throw in Marjon if it nets you Aldama but I am very high on Santi. Another point on Smart, he would be incredibly motivated in Milwaukee to take down Boston.
I would prefer Thybulle, I think he is an insanely better defender albeit not always traditional in his tactics. I also think Thybulle is the exact kind of defender that AG would like to run his system and being aggressive in gaps. Thybulle has always made the most sense to me as Dame has taken him under his wing even before he was an NBA player, they have the same agent, and he is locked up on a good contract for the next few years.
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.
