A point I make enough that it might be annoying: no one can predict how well a prospect's strengths will translate, no matter how good the player is at something in college. NCAA or G league are just too different from the NBA game, its space and timing are too distinct and they change everyone's game. Every year in the draft many players who are great NCAA shooters are just okay or kinda bad once they get to the NBA, while some guys who aren't expected to be good at that end up adapting surprisingly well. Same thing with passing and driving and defense. It's not like those players suddenly become bad at that thing, they just aren't as effective at turning their high-level skills/abilities at that thing into production in the particular circumstances of NBA games.

Even good posters here always overlook this, it's probably the least obvious of the major reasons that the draft is far more unpredictable and interesting than our conversation about it is.

Didnt really understand the hype and didnt want the Magic to draft him. Ofcourse the Magic went and drafted Jett Howard who hasnt looked better either. By far my favorite shooter from the draft was always Jordan Hawkins. It seems he's off to a solid start to his career, though he is older than Dick and Jett.

Well, Grady is tall and can shoot, maybe he can become something, but I think his potential is someone you can always find in summer FA. Basically Mike Dunleavy if he pans out? WIth a late lotto pick, you would like to roll a dice on someone maybe polarizing but who has potential to be special. This is just a lateral move pick imo.
