Nice to see Joe playing more of the bench (Banton and Queta). Wish Tatum didn't play 39 minutes, even without Porzingis and Holiday. Jaylen's not a Max player; Sorry to break the news... Al Horford (15) and Queta (10) combined for 25 rebounds. Nice to see a game where 8 Celtics played well.

An alternative perspective:

Pts. + Rebounds + (0.5 x Assists) + Steals + (0.5 x Blocks) - Missed FGs - (0.5 x Missed Free Throws) - Turnovers - (0.5 x Fouls)

+23.5 Jayson Tatum 39 minutes
+19 Al Horford 32 minutes

+16 Jaylen Brown 36 minutes
+14 Derrick White 37 minutes
+13 Neemias Queta 15 minutes
+11 Sam Hauser 32 minutes

+8.5 Dalano Banton 19 minutes
+7 Luke Kornet 9 minutes

+4 Payton Pritchard 20 Minutes

Some of the Celtic fans are just asking for perfection.

As long as the team keeps winning.

This Celtics team is still not at 100% because of changes made in the offseason.

Give them time.

No one is expecting perfection. Records don't mean Shet.. Can't speak for others but I just want to see more than 1 Chip in 38 years... or is it 40?? I am starting to lose count.

That's just the high standard of Celtic fans.

Teams like the Jazz have no chip in their history.

The NBA is for entertainment, first and foremost, and getting a chip is just a bonus.

This fan standard is annoying. Celtics fans act like we are entitled to more than what other nba franchises do. We’ve seen a title from the team in 2008. We have lost a Game 6 and Game 7 in nba finals since then and have been to a ton of deep playoff runs.

Be hungry to win, but don’t act like what they haven’t done has been really good last 15 years. We missed playoffs once in that time.

I just listened to the full interview. It appears JB has started politicking for accolades a tad early this year. The tone of the interview appears he’s on a mission to “prove” he has improved this year. Strange coming from a “max” player.

Highlight of the game was Horford blocking the shot from his basketball son (Trae Young) to his actual son.

No. I’ve always pointed out how this mentality impacts how he plays on the court. Demeanor does not matter. Mentality does. He’s playing for himself if you have not noticed over the years.

JB is just not likable.

Sometimes he comes off as arrogant.

Whether true or not, JB looks like he's playing for himself.

That's absolutely true.

In the 1st half, there were 3 other Celtic players running the break, he never passed it to the open man.

Hawks shot 3/5 from the corners. Celtics 4/15. Wire to wire victory by dougle digits with multiple key guys out and it shouldn't have been this close. Pretty good day at the office.

In principle, I agree. There are two things that won't go away.

1.) The Celtics, like the Yankees, like the Canadiens, and, now, the Patriots are members of the club of teams who are subservient to their histories.
2.) Despite their recent success, at some point it must become a championship. The current team has done everything but.

I think the Pats are more like the Bulls.

No MJ, no titles.

Pats with Brady, 6 Super Bowls, but without Brady, ZERO!

You nailed it.

Just to expand on this...

Hawks 19-53 (35.8%)
Celtics 13-47 (27.7%)

Not only did the Hawks have a higher 3pt%, they made six more threes.

What killed the Hawks was FTs and rebounds. The latter being impressive since the Hawks have two physical centers in Okongwu and Capela. I like to give some of the credit to Queta, but he was frustrating to watch finishing at the rim and many of his ten boards were off his own misses.

It's been 25 years for Da Bulls. Of all the teams mentioned in my post, they were all the alphas in their respective sports. I should have included the damn Lakers as well. As for the Pats in the SB Era, they've won six titles and won eleven Conference Championships. The Steelers are second with eight CCs.

I agree. We do need a reliable back up big. Joe needs to give queta more playing time to assess. Still think we need an addtional big body even if queta improves

For all our crying in the GT about our drop coverage, the Celtics just held the Hawks to their worst offensive performance of the season. Their offensive rating coming into the game was 120.4, good for 2nd in the league. Cs held them to 104.0 ORtg, which would be worse than last place Blazers.

Agree.

A move like that PJ Brown signing back in 2008.

Return to Boston Celtics
