Sucks. Very little of this should be on Justin. These screen plays give him no other options to make any reads or decisions. So all those negative plays are 100% on the Getsy. And then those trash plays set up the next plays where Justin's in a horrible situation and defense has it easy.
I thought Justin looked good again.
If we lose, I wish I could wake up tomorrow and hear that Flus and Getsy have been fired. (sheesh ... I find myself saying that a lot about Chicago teams on this board).
You see a franchise quarterback?

No. I certainly don't. But I do see a guy who has a ceiling well above what we are seeing from him.
I do believe that I see a guy who could play at a pro-bowl level with a real play caller.
Burrow, Lamar, Mahomes. Those are only guys I see in league that I'd say you could rightly identify as a franchise QBs after watching their first 3 years. Hurts too (but also, I'd want to see what the next three years end up looking like for him ... because two years ago many would have said Josh Allen was the franchise QB ... and look at them flaming out now).
I doubt anyone in Dallas would say "we always felt confident Dak was a franchise QB" (most probably still wouldn't say that, and yet they got the right play caller and pieces all around to be a title contending team).
I don't think I'd call Purdy a "franchise" QB ... just a good QB that does the right things with really magical set of weapons around him and great play calling.
Is Herbert a franchise QB? I think he is one of the most prototypical AI-created QBs I could imagine, and that hasn't gotten that franchise anywhere (missed playoff first two years; third year made playoffs and suffered a loss even more embarrassing than the double-doink). So maybe he fits the franchise QB type ... but he also has weapons FAR SUPERIOR than Bears (Allen, Mike Williams, Ekler) and he's had them his entire time there. So seems like Franchise QB still doesn't make a heck of a lot of difference unless you have the right play-caller and a complete team.
Trevor Lawrence could certainly be in this conversation; I'm sure Jax fans feel like they got a franchise QB. He looks the part and it's leading to lots of success.
I really hope CJ is that type of franchise QB, because Houston is so fun to watch (but it is just one year so I'll wait).
Meanwhile, Kyler Murray hasn't led to any success (initial coach already fired). Young only one year in, and coach already fired.
Tua didn't look franchise QB worthy; and then Tyreek Hill got added to the roster to partner with Waddle and all while having a pretty highly touted young coaching mind. All of a sudden he went from a game-mangey QB his first two years to MVP candidate. Who woulda thunk it.
Sorry for extended thoughts. No animosity meant. I agree he doesn't look like a franchise QB. But I really really do see a lot I like about him. More than enough for me to say we should expend our draft capital and resources on dynamic pieces around him, like MHJ! (and we've got the great bones/starters on defense ... so the additional capital could fill out extraordinary depth to cement defense as a strength).
