I like em both. The two teams are on the upwards trajectory (good signs last year). Deep and young stacked with potential
Had Pistons version of Griffin as Paolo’s comp and he’s already exceeded my expectation.
7.2 FTA av and a 72.3% return. If he keeps his 3ball around 36% that’s one heck of a player.
Personally who cares could do a lot worse as picks go.
Chet is special. KD like with defence is a game changer. He obviously has the higher ceiling but
They have ages to go before their prime.
We take it for granted when kids are so good so early imo.

I really like Chet, but Bigs of his stature never last. I hope he has a long career with no major injuries, but history hasnt been kind to his body type.
banchero 56%TS
Chet 69%TS
Love how you rounded Paolo's TS% down lol
Bigs typically always have a higher TS%
Not saying Chet is a scrub, I really like him, but give me the guy that you can give the ball to and he can get a bucket and right now thats Paolo.

Actually quite impressed with Paolo after his slow start to the season, he definitely looks like a very promising young player that can eventually be the 1B option on offense for a title contender, definitely nothing to scoff at.
Difference is however, Chet legit looks like he has all-time, if not near GOAT-level, ceiling. He and Wemby are going to revolutionize the game. Can't say that about Paolo.

chet has two 30+ point games. Paolo has one. yet somehow Paolo is the better scorer. yes, Paolo has the higher scoring average (by two points) and more 20 point games, but he takes a lot more shots than Chet. Chet has shown that when his team needs him to score and create his own, he can absolutely fill it up and do it efficiently. it's clear the lower scoring average and lack of FGA is a function of his role on his team and not a limitation of his ability.

They will dominate the game but I don’t see them revolutionizing how it’s played. Skilled 7 footers don’t grow on trees, and we still need to see if they hold up.
I think the latest revolution, if you want to call it that, is teams full of massive wings.

Can we please lock this up? This doesn't need to get bumped when either player have a great game and have to read takes from people who don't watch the teams of one or the other.

These two players have pretty different roles on their teams and have come into different environments. I'm a fan of both. They're obviously impacting their teams on both ends of the floor.
I would also like to add that some idiot cut Paolo in my fantasy league after that 9 point game against the Lakers and I spent a significant amount of my FAAB to get him, he has not disappointed. Go Paolo!

If RealGM locked up every thread where people are posting without any knowledge of what they are posting about, then RealGM would be a ghost town.
I actually like the banter. It made me want to watch Chet for myself. Already watch plenty of Paolo.
Chet is really good. So is Paolo in a different way. I think Paolo is an Alpha scorer already, especially when he is shooting 40%+ from 3 like he is this year.
Don't know about Chet and I don't know if he will get that chance to show it (being an Alpha scorer) any time soon playing along side SGA. I don't think he should be faulted for that however.

Re: Safe to say, Chet "Hologram" Holgrem > Paolo Banchero
Like I said earlier in this thread, we are talking about 2 guys playing drastically different roles and in different situations.
Chet is 4th on his team in Time Per Possession, with a significant gap between him and SGA (SGA:7 vs Chet:1.9) and 4th on his team in assists.
Paolo since the 5th game on is 1st on his team in Time Per Possession and 1st on his team in assists.
ORL doesnt have an SGA on their roster. Cole Anthony was the #1 option for the Magic going into the 2022 draft. Cole led in touches, Time Per Possession, FGAs, and assists. Magic was in desperate need of a true #1 option. A guy that they can build their offense around in every aspect of the word. He's going to touch the ball the most, he's going to be asked to run the offense and be the primary scorer. The Magic are off to a 12-5 start and Paolo just won Eastern Player of the Week doing just that for them.
Dont get me wrong, Chet is a beast and I think with zero hesitation OKC if they had the #1 pick in a redraft, would take Chet. Just like I think with no hesitation in a redraft ORL takes Paolo.
Chet is an elite prospect and on a team that is a perfect fit for his skill set to shine. Paolo is an elite prospect and on a team that is a perfect fit for his skill set to shine.

I mean, cool, but Paolo had plenty of 30+ games last year, including multiple in his first 20 games of the season, similar to how Chet has this year. The league will eventually adjust.

So you had broken knees Pistons version of Blake Griffin as Paolo's ceiling but he exceeded those lowly expectations you had and we're just gonna let this ride?
That is a damn horrible comparison.
But you saw Chet as KD with "defence"? Because he's skinny and 7ft I'd presume. No handle like KD, no cross and pullup like KD but that's who you saw...

No offense but I laugh cuz I have never seen OKC give the ball to Chet in the logo and ask him to dribble drive and either score or pass. If it has happen lots of times then please post those plays and I will apologize.
Point is, that's what we need and that's what Paolo does a lot of what we ask.

I think the same people saying they should've picked Chet would be lecturing them on how they don't have a #1 option because they took Chet. Literally the same people.
The only way to win is to have the superstar on your roster already. Then it's easy.
Franz and Chet are good enough to be good but not good enough to draft a star wing, and I don't think this front office has the chops to trade for one. Whether you think Paolo turns into that or not, at least there's a chance.
I'm curious why you think Chet can't be a #1 option.

Re: Safe to say, Chet "Hologram" Holgrem > Paolo Banchero
Orlando gives it to Paulo and tells him to create his own play. Chet is still more reliant on the team play to get some of his baskets. I don't think it's fair to just compare raw points here. Arguing in bad faith.SeattleJazzFan wrote:chet has two 30+ point games. Some of this is silly they are both very good players this year. But I did want to correct one of the silly misconceptions here that Chet can't get his own bucket.

Now pls post vids of Chet in the same game of him doing what you just posted as your evidence of him doing this throughout the entire course of a game. Not just here and there instances lol.
Chet is nice Paolo is a #1. And I'll say it again, I wanted us to get Chet until I saw Paolo and how he is already NBA physical and big which for some reason he didn't look that physically big to me at Duke.
Both guys are where they need to be as is Jabari Smith Jr.
