I think we all liked Killian Hayes to some extent. Didn't you want him in BAF before you traded your #4 pick for Murray?

i was stuck between him and Haliburton. i used to stay up late at night like a crackhead watching draft vids on the both of them. one night i would want hayes, other night i would want Haliburton

there is no exact science that is for sure.

im just glad i pulled the trigger on that trade even if it was just having Murray for 2 years. don’t know if i would have any chips now if I didn’t do it especially with the juggernaut you built

i was high on haliburton too. i remember telling you he could have a similar ceiling to SGA. you actually told me i was going too far with that.

I had Haliburton #3 on my board. You had Obi above him.

You were hyping everyone up just to cover all your basis…Obi was Amare, Wiseman was David Robinson

i never said wiseman was david robinson  i thought he would be something like ayton

you wanted us to draft Killian hayes, Poku and patrick williams that year too. you hyped up about everyone

I tried to tell you Maxey was nice too. You said he wa Rodney Stuckey

But I am not even crazy high on Obi….we botched that pick then botched the trade. i just want anyone so we don’t have to watch 42 minutes of Randle every night

DeRozan ain't beat anyone in the playoffs in his life. Unless it's his daughter. She's a beast.

he's led the raptors to the ECF before. im not a big derozan fan but he's a bit underrated now. he's literally ranked 36th of all time in points. right behind steph curry. there's no doubt he would've helped us in the post season. we wouldn't have to rely on randle so much if we had him.

Embiid is out of the picture now. Giannis is still a possibility if the Bucks get bounced from round one again... Spida is still a possibility of course...

We can also send Randle out for an expiring contract then maneuver enough cap space to go after OG as a free agent and then re-up IQ... that's still a solid team.

I disagree heavily. Honestly, his 36th ppg ranking is good, but what's also interesting is that people are pretty adamant that he is not a hall of fame player, and that speaks to a disconnect as to how valuable DeRozan is. I think there's also a huge reason for that. He's a good scorer. Not a great one. He's not a good shooter and not a good defender. He doesn't make anyone better, not Lavine, not Vuc, not Aldridge, not Lowry. He couldn't even garner respect from Lebron when he was trying to recruit people to LA.

He has a history of failing in the playoffs, and that's a huge problem too. Like yes, we wouldn't need to rely on Randle as much if we had DeRozan, but the problem is that teams are perfectly willing to let DeRozan chuck in the playoffs because he chokes. I'd rather get a guy who empowers Brunson more.

Honestly, I think DeRozan and Randle are too similar. They like their midrangers, they need defensive backup, they need guys to clear the paint. From my POV, I see two options to empowering and maximizing Randle. One is to get more 3&D guys, especially at center, and see if that makes things easier for him as a 2nd option. Those guys are just so damn expensive, though. The second is to get a real star, and then hope Randle can go back to his bubble play, with great shooting and defense.

But yea, I don't respect DeMar as a playoff guy. 21 ppg, 4.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 41.8% FG, 21.4% Three, +/- average of -53 over 7 playoff appearances or -373 total...that's horrible, and I think it's getting into the space where we can't claim sample size as credibly anymore. Don't want to bring up Julius' numbers, but his +/- is not as gruesome as DeRozan's, if that helps.

DeMar is like, the exact example of a guy who has to be the #1 option due to his playstyle but isn't quite good enough to justify being a #1

He's very similar to Randle in that regard.

What's with this new OG fascination? I thought that died down. He's not worth what it'll cost to get him.

derozan also had a bunch of big time games in the playoffs too. he led a team to the ECF before. he's not a #1 option but leading a team to the ECF is pretty significant, is it not?

also derozan said he was actually going to the lakers. bron wanted him there. something happened last minute they couldn't get him anymore.

i'll take a 21 PPG guy in the post season over paying guys like Fournier, DDV and Josh hart. that's all it really comes down to and it's a no brainer.

Having a better season than Hart, Donte, Grimes our 6'4 back up power forwards.

but you told me last week obi's minutes are low because indiana has been blowing out teams. how come he can't close out close games then? what happened last night? i want answers.

Obi is playing 24min a game . Turner is playing 26 min a game. Only Haliburton and brown play about 32 minutes a game. The Pacers have 8 guys who score 10 pts are better on the team. Obi had a bad game last night but been avg 17pts a game the last 5.

Obi averages the least amount of minutes in the starting lineup because his defense is atrocious and he gets outplayed by the backups on his own team. that’s the reality. And we saw that once again last night.

He's a top 3 defender in the NBA, can guard 1 through 5, and knocks down the three at near 40% and he's still only 26. If we could shed Randle's salary and get under the cap this off-season, maybe we can convince him to come over for a $26m starting salary.
