NBA doesn't care how fair it is. They just want eyeballs watching so they can get larger TV deals. I bet it was successful on that end. I would be watching regardless but I see WAY more Magic fans on the board engaged on our off-night.
Yep. It accomplished the mission the NBA set out to do.

There's no time off. Orlando will play twice between 12/2 and 12/11 to reach their full 82. Opponents and game times to be announced.

Re: Inaugural In Season Tournament 2023-24
I'm still semi-excited for the knockout stage.
I hope our "regular" games are not scheduled at the same time, but I'm pretty sure they'll be on separate days.
additional note: New York, who did grab the wild card, got very lucky having the Wizards and the Hornets in their group, then compounding that by getting to play the (already eliminated) Lamelo-less Hornets, even knowing exactly what kind of score they'd need more or less.

Re: Inaugural In Season Tournament 2023-24
For me it really stings to not make it cause I truly believe had we got in we could've won it. Single knockouts comes down to being a hot team. We are as hot as anybody in the league right now. It was a chance to actually see my fav basketball team hold up a trophy. The goal to be a playoff team of course is the more impactfull goal. However we know the Celtics, Sixers or Bucks will wash us in a playoff series. But in a one game thing we could absolutely beat them.

Re: Inaugural In Season Tournament 2023-24
It might be interesting if every team played on the same day for every in-season tournament game. You will be able to eliminate the idea of "running up points" to win the group. Now, I think that just means, everyone would run up points but oh well.

It would've been a chance to play another nationally televised game. I think we only have one more. It's in OKC on the second night of a b2b.

Re: Inaugural In Season Tournament 2023-24
Ultimately, it's a meaningless competition and the focus needs to remain on the season at large and on continued improvement. I'm not just salty either, I truly could not care less about this thing, and even actively dislike the NBA's insistence on making us care. With only four games in group play, the variables are very high. I understand that may be part of the appeal, to have something that is truly attainable by almost everyone. But that itself is what makes it so meaningless. If some mediocre team wins, and then gets blasted in the actual playoffs, how is that trophy supposed to be taken seriously in any capacity.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.
- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

Re: Inaugural In Season Tournament 2023-24
Pain. I don't even have a trade thread or a player sucks thread to fall back on.
Nets are my new nemesis this year though. I want them to suffer. Nothing will feel better than setting our franchise record win streak by beating them.

Re: Inaugural In Season Tournament 2023-24
It sucks The Magic lost the tiebreaker and are not advancing in Tournament Play.
That opening blowout loss to Brooklyn really hurt especially since this team has been different since that loss.

Really don't care that we didn't make the in season tourny. We get to beat up on 2 teams that didn't qualify now lol. Should be 2 more for our win column now.

The elite eight at least seems to pass the eye ball test for the most part. I think the IST is legit af.

Re: Inaugural In Season Tournament 2023-24
I thought the tournament was fun and it sucks we're not playing.
For some reason, a lot of Magic fans hate the Raptors. I never understood why, I think it has to do with fans wars and the 2021 draft? I dont interact with other teams fans much so I never had ill will for the Raptors except when Kyle Lowry was on their team and he purposely hurt Aaron Gordon twice. But now I hate them lol. They suck.
Also I dont see how anybody could want those losers on the Bulls. Vucevic is the same loser he was here, I wouldn't take him back for the minimum. Moe Wagner is better than him now. And Lavine is so overpaid and also a loser. I dont need him moping around chucking shots here and giving up firsts.
Coming in today, I thought we had a good chance of advancing and so did Vegas. I underestimated the suckiness of the Raptors and Bulls. I thought Raptors were favorites to win vs Nets or at least be a close game in case Nets do win. And than all we needed was for the Bulls to not lose by 23 or more. Cant even do that? Lol pathetic

Re: Inaugural In Season Tournament 2023-24
It still pisses me off that Mosely put the third string in against Brooklyn.
Like… shouldn’t you of all people know the implications of such a dumb move? Not really an argument to be made otherwise and won’t hear one.
Anyway… who cares. Boston was going to run up the score with starters in regardless and the Raptors are complete ass. Don’t want to hear about how good they think Barnes is for the rest of the season after that. Have fun trading your roster away for picks you scrubs.

Re: Inaugural In Season Tournament 2023-24
Im okay with point differential being a tiebreaker, but like someone said earlier, we really got screwed by not playing on last day and knowing what we needed to advance. If they do this next year, maybe everyone should play on last day, that way players dont really know what they need to advance with the other games going on.
