50% per NBA stats. Only takes 1.7 open 3's (closest defender 6ft+) per game though.
IDK what you or the previous poster meant by automatic so maybe this is a interpretation thing
Yes, that's a tiny sample and a single miss or make have an outsized influence on the number. You also cited the numbers for ‘wide open’ 3s. On ‘open’ 3s, he's currently 39.7% on 5.2 3PA/G.
In the 2022/23 RS, Luka was 32.1% on wide open 3s (1.2 3PA/G) and 37% on open 3s (6 3PA/G). In the 2021/22 RS, Luka was 39% on wide open 3s (1.9 3PA/G) and 35.3% on open 3s (6.3 3PA/G). In the 2020/21 RS, Luka was 37.1% on wide open 3s (1.5 3PA/G) and 37.3% on open 3s (5.7 3PA/G).
So no, he's not ‘automatic’ when left open even with the most generous definition of the term.
For comparison, Haliburton is currently 45.3% on wide open 3s (5.3 3PA/G) and 44% on open 3s (2.1 3PA/G). In 2022/23, he was 43.7% on wide open 3s (4.1 3PA/G) and 37% on open 3s (2.8 3PA/G). In 2021/22, he was 41.9% on wide open 3s (3.1 3PA/G) and 41% on open 3s (1.8 3PA/G).
Just a different level of pure shooting ability (Luka has obviously other advantages in related aspects, such as being able to more consistently create 3s that he can make at a reasonable albeit not great clip).
I'm very curious to see him in the post season, if they make the playoffs, especially with his shot.

IN SEASON. we've clinched 2nd seed as only one other team can finish 4-0.

You didn't write tournament, so I got confused.

I wrote in season playoffs rather than in season tournament. I thought that was clear. oh, well. FWIW, we are officially the second seed. I do not expect us to get past Boston,

You wrote in season, well pacers defence is bad to say the least.

scroll back up and look.
anyway, I wish our defense were bad. it is much worse than bad. the great C2_Cooper has written that if we could improve to the point that it was merely bad we'd be in good shape.

Re: Is Tyrese Haliburton possibly the best combination of Shooting+Passing we've seen yet?
Very small sample size, but he's actually playing better on the road than at home.
25/11 on 50/40/92 at home.
29/5/15/1.8/0.8...1.8 turnovers on 58/57/89 on the road. 6 made 3's per game.
And 163 OFF rating.
Played better teams as well(Phi 2x, Atl, Cle..3-1 record). It seems like the better the team he plays against, the bigger his statlines are.
Indiana dropped a few absolute gimmicks against teams they should beat, esp at home. They will regret this at the end of the season.
Now with this jinx post, it's gonna be 2 guaranteed duds against Miami, so Miami fans, you're welcome.

Because team USA gets nothing out of playing a gimmick no defense system where 1 guy pounds the air out of the ball for 40 minutes a game spamming pick and rolls, they are trying to play actual high stakes winning basketball

I didn't see struggles on team usa although the coaches did decide to start someone else. I'm not going to engage in a debate here over the wisdom of that decision.

I take my comment back. Luka is a better player but Hali is playing like the best combination of shooting and passing we've seen yet.

With all the bumps we’ve been having it seems like this is a good topic to bump.
