Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Because Lavine is making $48 million in 26-27 and Hayward is off the books after this season while Terry is $20mil a year cheaper and one year less than Lavine.

So they are planning to be active in FA, and thus are willing to sacrifice hard assets to get more cap space? That doesn't make sense to me.
If I'm CHI, I want picks and prospects and am happy to take back bloated salary to make it work. Again, depends on if they're trying to rebuild and what their appetite is for a teardown, but I doubt they move Lavine if they don't want to teardown.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
LaVine, on his contract, probably doesn't have that much trade value.
He's a 2-time All-Star that makes almost 50m per year.
So saving money (and then flipping Rozier/Gordon for assets) is probably a good trade for them. Especially if they can dump Lonzo too.
That said, while I think LaVine is better than Rozier/Gordon, he isn't a 50m dollar player. But at the same time, he's better than anyone who could sign here in FA and contracts these days are ridiculous anyways.

I don't think Lonzo needs to be included in a deal for LaVine.
What would be a deal that you guys would do (obviously Williams and Miller are off the table).
Some Bulls fans are a bit optimistic on what Zach would return, I'm... not so much.
Hayward/Washington/pick for Lavine?

4 years at 40+ for a borderline all star is a tough sale for non desperate teams. His market isn't going to be very robust, especially if they try to hitch Lonzo to the deal.
Sure they'd want a Gobert package, but most teams aren't that stupid these days so something based around smaller chunked contracts and at least one big expiring should be an attractive option.
What is the market for Lavine anyway? Lakers? no salary matching unless they trade half their roster. Uh... Philly, Milwaukee, Miami? ehh probably not. Indiana for something around Hield? That's the same sort of deal they're looking at with Gordo.
Caruso is the guy we want anyway

Making a move for a declining, expensive, questionable attitude player like Lavine is such a Hornets move that I'm surprised it hasn't already happened

Is Lavine that much better than Rozier at this point?

Well, he taller and bigger. He doesn't pound the ball as much as Terry. He's never played with a decent point guard except one stretch with Lonzo, and he was amazing in that stretch. Percentages wise they are about the same, but Lavine has been near a 40% 3PT shooter on high volume for years now and is definitely scarier driving to the hoop. Lavine can take the scoring load for a game if needed and get you 40 points, I don't think Terry can do that anymore.
Id comfortably do the trade, but no 1st round picks. Terry and Hayward for Lonzo and Lavine. If they want a first then Caruso needs to be included.
I saw a version on the trade board where we get Caruso and Huerter for Hayward and a pick with Lavine going to Sacramento. I like that version better. We desperately need both those guys.

I'd like to add that the Bulls situation is so toxic and depressing, that I can't blame the players for down years and wanting out, and its hard to gauge whether Lavine is declining based on that team

Chicago is probably getting at least 3-4 firsts min if the do deals involving Lavine, Demar and Caruso. Doubt they are just gifting Zach away who is still their best piece in terms of talent. I don't have issues with his talent, just think he isn't a great fit for us considering our Defensive issues. A team like Orlando, Knicks or Miami make sense since they have other great defensive pieces around him.
Feels like a deal that we are excited about and then 20 games we realize we still have all the same issues except now we are holding a much larger salary than Gordons.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
I would like to find a deal with Spurs to either get our pick back or get something and remove the protections. This waiting in Limbo is kind of nuts.

There would be quite a bit of value in that. And if the Spurs are looking at our record right now, they have to feel the likelihood of the pick conveying this season is low anyway. What kind of deal would get us our pick back though?

Would you trade Hayward and unprotect our pick to Spurs for Keldon Johnson and Tre Jones?
We currently hold the 8th pick overall.

does keldon mean you are giving up on trying to resign miles? not sure we have room for miles, miller, pj and keldon at the forward spots. or melo, miller, keldon, miles, mark? is that the plan?

I think it gives you assurance if Miles does leave, but he is basically taking over Haywards role moving forward for 10 million less.
You can still bring back Miles and not be in the Lux tax, which is what ownership should care about moving forward instead of living the salary cap number.
Regardless of who starts your top 9 becomes Ball, Miller, Keldon, Miles, Mark, Richards, PJ, Terry and Jones.

I think we should keep our pick, win the draft lottery and pick 1st overall instead.

Rozier for Dort and Micic.
Dort is our defender, Micic is a savvy vet backup point guard.

Gordon and Terry for Wiggins and Cp3.
We'll probably buyout CP3, but Wiggins gives us a legitimately good defender.
