This seems like the logical approach, although will we get blowback from local and national media if Brandon Miller is balling out?

The narrative will be "Hornets sack GM who made great pick selecting Miller over Henderson"

Rightly or wrongly, Kupchak is seen as a stooge by most of the media, and especially casual NBA fans. They have no idea he has drafted relatively well aside from 2021. To be honest most of them think MJ was the GM the entire time. There will be no push back whatsoever when Mitch and Cliff get canned.

I agree with the yosemiteben in the order of change. The GM needs to help pick the next coach. I also don't mind using Cliff as tank commander for the rest of the year since this roster is so fatally flawed anyway. He'll guide us to another high pick and then when he gets the boot no one will bitch about us firing a guy who led us to the cellar two straight seasons.

He's no chance unfortunately but he's a damn good coach.

People will unfairly look down on his previous jobs and nationality though.

He took his talents to Milwaukee, his version of the flex offense would be great for charlotte
