Pistons need to trade Cunningham

This guy isn't a franchise saving player imo. What players would you trade this guy for?

I respectfully disagree. I think Cade is a guy an organization builds around. So far, however, Weaver’s done a terrible job of that.

IMO, at this moment his trade value is likely very low because he has missed a lot of time last year combined with the face he's super inefficient and hasn't proven he's a winning basketball player. He's also about to want a 5 year $250 million contract extension.

It's the same reason the Bulls found out that Zach LaVine doesn't have much of a trade market.

This is something you'd expect to read on Reddit.

Yes, he's underwhelmed so far in his career. He's also essentially in his second season and coming off a year out with injury. Let's give him some time.

I am surprise, it's better than I expected for Killian (It's not good). 54.2 TS% is not terrible.

What franchise-saving assets do we trade Cade for, specifically? A bag of chips, or a really big bag of chips?

I'm breathing a sigh of relief that he and Ivey have become at least respectable from three. And they should keep getting better.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I still think we should consider trading Ausar.

We have Cade and Ivey to share the ball handling and Duren to man the 5. We need to get them legit shooters at the 3 and 4 to space the floor. They need to shoot 3’s around 38%+ and play at least average to above-average defense.

I don’t think Ausar will ever be a good enough shooter to qualify. All his intangibles and defense are great, but he’s a total clog offensively.

Trade him for a guy like Trey Murphy (or similar) and hope we get another shooter in the 2024 draft.

The Duren/Ausar fit is pretty tough longterm. But I’ll worry about trying to compete with a lineup that has two non-shooters once we have three actual quality shooters in the other spots first. Nice thing about Ausar is he plays big so you can play smaller around him.

Let's be honest with ourselves - what facet of the game is Cade great at?

The potential is still there despite the disappointing start to the year. I know he has been an inefficient TO machine but the kid has a lot of talent

He’s not an all-star, so none. But he is *good* in many areas with potential to get better.

Is he a good defender? Not really.
Is he a rim runner? Not really.
Is he a good finisher? Not at all.
Does he facilitate fast breaks? No.
Is he a good facilitator? Not really. Leads the league in TOs.
Rebounds? Steals? Blocks? No.
Shooting? Not really. Leads the league in missed field goals.
Is he good at team defense? No.
Is he a good leader? No, he just **** on his team when he said they were bad.
Is he making the players around him better? No.

Please, I want to believe. Tell me what he's good at. Give me something to believe in about him. Anything. Because he's probably getting a max extension in 6 months.

I'll agree somewhat with trading Cade.

Pistons need to either develop Cade and put the right players around him, or trade him. Can't put a guy in position to fail and then wonder why it isn't working. Cade isn't a player who buy himself is going to make a team a contender.

NBA isn't a one man show league.

Let's remember other teams have seen Cade play and would adjust their offers accordingly. It's not like we'd recoup anything.
