There was a sequence where he made a great block, but he just had to ruin it, by forcing a shot the other end.

like I said, he forced his shots, but he wasn't awful. he has to be better at passing and deferring. there was an extra poor stretch in that second quarter of him playing poorly.

he will always be seen with a skewed eye because he got paid, it was already bad before he got the bag.

one thing I will do is admit being bias when it comes to jb, i like him, his game isn't pretty but it's good. my skewed eye seems to resemble the league because he got the bag his detractors wished he didn't.

I doubt that really lol. Most said the celtics have no choice but to pay him, and a lot said he ain’t worth the money. Well, was hoping since he got the money already, he would buy in, and add playmaking to his game. Still too much iso and one on one play from him.

It was close and against a B Philly team but it was still nice to win. I almost never doubted that we'd get this one, even though we hardly played a very good game.

Horford and White would share the VC for me, but many others contributed. Both with great all around games. It was an ugly team 3rd quarter that's for sure.

One has to wonder if something's going on with Jayson, he's looked visibly frustrated and not at his best. Going for the refs with 1 T already was reckless and unnecesary and shows little maturity and leadership by him, specially with a trap tied game. Still contributed as usual though.

I watched the ESPN broadcast and I really enjoyed the casting, specially by Bob Myers (whom I never heard there before). He's knowledgeable and calls it like it is. Refreshing and not over-protecting of the people's "image". Subtle and not so subtle call-outs of Mazzula ("I like the roster") and his usual late game managements and Brown's forcing of the issue. I'm happy what we discuss at length in this board was said out and loud on national TV.

Team stepped up after Tatum's disqualification, so I'm happy enough with the W. Onto the next.

Al is immortal!

Missed 90% of the game and the thread.

JB hit his shots and free throws at the end. Perhaps the bar is too low. White may have been a better option.

as they say, vote how you want, but al, white and pritch were better options.

Or here's a better idea - why vote if you missed 90% of the game?

When your shot is not falling, you have to find different ways to contribute, and Jaylen Brown did that by largely disappearing in the 4th quarter (on the offensive end. On defense he managed to pick up 3 fouls while trying to guard PatBev).

I have more issue with the fact that he had 1 potential assist lol. Wasn’t even shot variance, he just wasn’t moving the ball at all.

But, Tatum turned the ball over four times on passes, so that wasn’t working out great either.

Tbh, the fact that they are 15-4 is kind of scary for the league lol.

Tatum hasn’t played like the top 5 player we need him to be, Jaylen hasn’t been top 50, and that’s being generous. KP cold from three, Holiday 53% TS, Horford and Pritchard really cold starts and have just recently got it going.

Shows the upside this team has, and probably why all the nerd models had them winning a ridiculous amount of games. Not counting the stupid ESPN or 538 models, they trash.

I thought the shots he took were mostly good shots. It's just he can't shoot anymore. 5 of his 8 made shots were layups, all of them I think coming on transition or put backs.

He already is, no one is ever trading for that contract.

There will be teams willing to trade for him, but the Cs will say no.

JB's contract will not be as scary 2 years from now.

Is JB a (very) rich man's Zach Lavine? Guy that can score, sometimes play D, but not really a true superstar in the sense that they could lead a team and make their teammates better? Seems like a good parallel. JB is definitely better, but Aldo way more expensive. I guess I'm saying I agree that contract is immovable, at least now anyway.

I don't see it, as long as he is so mediocre he will be untradeable like LaVine is right now. If he improves enough to be worth the contract, the Celtics won't want to trade him.

Never in doubt.

Brown for the obvious VC and Tatum can have a few goes too.

They were so bloody good tonight.

The Jays have been pretty terrible this year, tbh. Tatum has shot efficiently, but his turnover issues have been absolutely pitiful since the win in Philly and his defense has noticeably declined since the beginning of the season. He hasn't been a top 10 player this season, flat out.

Jaylen shoots tour dates half the time now. His on-ball defense and passing have noticeably improved this year but we need him to score points and he's not consistent at all with that. He hasn't been close to good enough.

However...do you guys want to know the biggest reason why this team is 15-4? This team's clutch defense has been MUCH better so far this season. Their defensive rating in the clutch so far this year is 3rd in the league at 96.1, 10.2 points better than last year's 106.3 defensive rating. I'm going to keep repeating this over and over, but this team has won multiple games this year that they didn't deserve off the simple fact that teams can't score on them in the last 2 minutes.

The reality is that this team still has clutch offensive issues, but their clutch defense last year was a WAY bigger issue than people realized. Their playoff clutch defensive rating last year was 129!!! Everyone kept saying the Heat's clutch offense was so much better than Boston's last year, but the reality was their clutch offensive rating was the exact same, but their defensive rating was over 30 points better.

A big reason for this, as much as I liked him, was trading Brogdon and closing games with Derrick now. But I think having Holiday helps, Al's resurgence helps, KP helps, etc. They had so many breakdowns on defense late in games this year that so far we haven't seen, teams have to go 1 on 1 to beat them as opposed to the Celtics just making mistakes.

Watching the replay and it’s painful to see Hauser get beat on every play. On top of that he has bad hands. He gave away at least two rebounds he had in his grasp. He should be the 10th on a good bench

On the Tatum ejection I think Tatum was fouled first by Pat Bev before he came up on Covington. The change to a flagrant was ridiculous

Hauser was pretty good on D. Also rotates well. There were moments like when Melton beat him for a layup but honestly the standard for the 9th man on a good bench isn't "Stop every single drive and grab every board while also shooting 45% from the three on high volume."
