If we meet this team in the playoffs we are screwed. We can’t match up against that average team.

But why Brooklyn? They're not that good.... But against us? They're all world.... Maybe this is how Boston feels about us.... Some teams just have your number.... That being said, I'm questioning mose a bit because it seems like we haven't been prepared to face a zone.... The zone has our guys just second guessing everything, you'd think they've never seen it beforeKnightro wrote:I really don't mind catching a serious whooping. Hopefully it will help them refocus defensively for the rest of the month.

That tends to be our MO. We don't give up. Let's see if we have it.GameOver25 wrote:If defense is this team calling card, chip this thing down to 10 points and show us it's real.

Let's see if the Magic have enough energy/pride to make this a competitive game in the 2nd half.
Was the Clippers on a second night of a back to back?

The Nets are not THIS GOOD defensively but credit to them. They are playing with great pace and passing the ball well.
Need Goga to be more engaged and stop playing so soft in the middle. We also have to rebound better as a whole. The 8 assists is disgusting. Gotta get back to moving the ball and not just stand still when Franz or Paolo have the rock.

They're kind of built like us, just a little better across the board.Optimus_Steel wrote:If we meet this team in the playoffs we are screwed. We can’t match up against that average team.

Nets are streaky but they do play athletic and tough. Wendell is only super physical guy we have.
I’ll blame tired legs but the defense the last handful of games has been concerning. It’s unfortunate we definitely need Isaac to be a good defensive team but he’s not reliable

Playoffs are different. We would have time to adjust. Just like if we faced Boston and they would have time to adjust against us. Not saying we would win either but advantages and disadvantages get taken away in the playoffs.

Our December and especially January schedule is brutal before getting quite easy to end the year. Going to be a tough stretch.

One thing we need to improve on in general is kickouts. For a team that scores so much in the paint it feels like we don’t generate enough open looks from the perimeter from it.

Teams we've played against know we struggle against the zone and have used it to us with pretty good success. The Mavs ran it on us when they came back earlier this season, the Wizards were running it alot its just their team sucks but it helped themnmore than it hurt
We need to work on zone breaking badly

Refs aren’t calling it both ways. Dinwiddie is ALL forearm on Suggs. He just fouled Suggs on the break. No calls but they give Dinwiddie touch calls right now.

Re: 2023-2024 Regular Season Game 20: Orlando Magic (14-5) at Brooklyn Nets (9-9) - 7pm
Worst referee'ing I've seen in like the past 3 seasons. What's called as a foul on ORL defenders takes 2-3x more contact to get a foul called on you as a BRK defender. I would very seriously instruct the Magic players on driving-to-dunk much more often. It's harder to give BRK defenders an Offensive charge in their favor than it is for them to keep allowing the no foul calls they are doing on ORL drives. They key is to end in a dunk attempt and force the issue. Also, it'd be great to flipping bang into their bodies and exact a high price all night long. And build foul calls on them if the very last 1-2 minutes of the 1st half referee'ing holds true for the 2nd half.
Granted, if the referee'ing was proper, we'd still be down by 12-16 points instead of 21-23 points. The rest is some type of completely atrocious defense by us. We somehow found a way to not stop neither the 3 pt line nor the at-rim paint. They feel and play vaguely similar to us where Mikal and Cameron Johnson are like a better Paolo and Franz, and their bigs are better defending and rebounding than ours. BUT, BUT, Mikal and Cameron are 27 year olds bordering on players you can never call young again or before their prime again. If we lose the game, I have nothing more to say because this 1st half analysis was the reason they lost.
