Balentin had 20+ more walks than Jones so why is Balentin being labeled as the undisciplined one?

Fine by me. I'm happy to have him back, but not for $9 million. I think I read that Guillen would still want to talk to the M's, but he's looking for a multiyear deal. I think I'd rather roll the dice with Balentien and Jones as the two corner outfielders, or look for another alternative on the FA market.

The new and updated HeavyP plan.

Lets say we pay Arod 32 million a year for 8 years. We can essentially pay for his salary by 1 finding a taker ANYWHERE for Sexson (14 million), Not Resigning Vidro (8.5M option I believe), Weaver leaving (8.5 million freed up). That's 31 million freed up right there.

Adam Jones for Tim Lincecum
Wlad + jose Lopez + Rowland Smith for Bedard

Now, our pitching is better and we win a lot of games. However our OF future is bleak. I say we sign Geoff Jenkins (7million a year) and play Jeremy Reed (I know it sucks, but he's basically all we have left).

With Morrow sent to AAA to learn to be a SP then he can come up the next year when I believe both Batista and Washburn expire.

CF: Ichiro
LF: Jeremy Reed
RF: Geoff Jenkins
3b: Adrian Beltre
SS: Alex Rodriguez
2B: Yuni
1B: Broussard / Ibanez Combo
C: Kenji / Burke / Clement
DH: Clement / Ibanez or Broussard

Pitching:
Bedard
Felix
Washburn
Batista
Lincecum

Why not just swing Nolan Gallagher, Jose Lopez, and Kalian Sams to the Brewers for Bill Hall?

Lincecum is probably as untouchable as any prospect on any team in the majors. He's close to what Felix is for the M's.

I don't see Bavasi making a run at Satana..Kazmir's available if a package can be put together. If we had any good GM, the M's would have a nice starting staff by spring.

Here is a list of free agents by someone who looks like he knows what he's talking about. As a bonus, apparently it will be updated regularly.

I've never heard of this Fukudome guy either (outfielder, supposedly #6 overall). Anybody know anything about him, other than the awesomeness of his name? (I'd love to name a stadium after him: the Fuku Dome.) I click his name and see a lefty hitter who's reached a consistent level of a homer every 15-20 at-bats, and over one walk per 5 at-bats, with the strange exception of 2005. And no posting fee. He seemed to have missed a lot of action in '07, his age-30 year, so I'd like to know what's up with that. Aside from that, what's not to like?

I've seen Fukudome comparisons usually fall between a healthy JD Drew (non-2007 version) and Hideki Matsui (probably out of convenience and racial stupidity); for the most part people think he's capable of maxing out at 30+ HRs with a solid-very good OBP.

From what I hear, there is a pitcher named Fuki Saito that's supposed to be the Japanese Pedro Martinez.

I assume he's going to make a huge splash a few years from now.

I Googled Fukudome and found a clip of him striking out on three questionable called strikes. The page was titled "Welcome to the Fukudome," which proves that I'm not the only one with a sharp, sophisticated wit. On every called strike he visibly showed up the umpire, which obviously isn't the best way to curry favor with the umps in the future. Well, needless to say, a healthy J.D. Drew or another Matsui is a nice commodity to have. Plus, I also read that Fukudome is also an excellent defensive outfielder.
