Plus, Tatum drifting south of league average on three point shooting again.

Becoming increasingly clear he is not a good three point shooter, if we factor in the actual shots he takes.

The problem being, who is going to create open shots for Jayson Tatum? I guess Jaylen Brown will have to create for his teammates lmao.

Or maybe I don't know, I don't expect any team to leave Tatum open much if at all so why doesn't he just post up and create an advantage for himself or if they double him find an open teammate? Tatum being the best player should really be the one creating open shots for teammates. Just spit balling.

That's literally what he does.

Uh but you were worried who was going to create Tatum open shots? If he gets his teammates good looks, it'll eventually be reciprocated back to him. I hope you're not worried next who will get Giannis, Jokic, AD, good looks too.

Right... these guys create so much pressure on a defense initially... they create opportunities more for Dame, Murray, and Lebron than vice versa.

They didn't lose because of offense last night. It was because of defense

Eh, I'd say a combination of both.
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

No question it was both. 29% shooting from 3, 17 turnovers and 66% FT shooting.

It was shooting 29% from three, and the pacers shooting 47% from three. When that happens you will lose. And in single elimination games that happens means you are out.

I'd honestly take Hali over either Brown and Tatum in a heartbeat, i know it will be an unpopular opinion.

I really can't stand watching the Jays these days.

Contrast that with Hali, a smart facilitator, leader and absolute killer out there being coached by someone who knows what the hell he's doing.

The Jays don't have a killer instinct and though we can win regular season games like this imo we are not seeing a banner raise unless these two show more toughness and hunger.

With how easy it is foul these days & the amount of spacing in the league it becomes extremely harder to become physical. Indiana are a fast team that hit some really tough shots.

Stop overreacting fellas.

being soft doesn't just mean physically. This group has mentally collapsed in the past vs the Heat, Warriors, etc.... If you don't notice the trend, then you're not watching! We gave up some dawgs to build up the starting 5, now if the 5 is not healthy, then this unit is weaker then last years....Than being said, we have plenty of time to gear up for banner 18, but we def need to toughen up, especially when the lights are bright!

So what you just expected us to go 82-0 ?
This game wasn’t a “mental collapse”. The Pacers currently have the greatest offensive rating of all time & got hot for a the third quarter & then the last minute of the game.
We were good enough to come back from 7 down in the final quarter & tie things up only for Halliburton to hit that ridiculous shot to put them up 2 possessions.

The Pacers are a good team that played the game of their life. It’s December, let’s all chill.

Some of y'all living with your heads in the sand.

How many years of the Jays do we have to watch until we realize these dudes have zero dog in them? Literally they got called out on Draymonds podcast post finals about how fast they give up. Straight punked, then our star player goes on and takes wedding pictures on Instagram with those same guys that punked him. That's such weak sauce.

No leaders on this team. They got to be totally healthy if they want to win this imo because the Jays don't have it in them to lead a team to a title, they are not captains for a reason. Going to need Jrue to play better and KP/Al/White to keep up with their excellent decision making because that and health is our best shot.

Imagine dropping 46 and 51 in elimination playoff games, and having “no dog in you”.

I'm honestly starting to think our entire approach to shot selection is in need of a rethink.

i don't think people give credence to how much it takes out of a player to try and go out and dunk or get inside all game. trying to make it seem easy for tatum to do that every time, then try to shade him when he has to take 3s or fadeaways.

I forget who said it on a podcast I was watching (gil or jj's), but they said lbj (or kobe) gave him the best advice ever, "pace yourself and don't try and get it all early." It seems like it's good advice because when you see JB get off to a hot start he always tails off... it's a running joke for folk. Meanwhile, people are mad at tatum for pacing himself so he can have something left the whole game.

I used to get so happy when lbj would explode early because I knew he wouldn't dominate late. heck, it still works to this day, watch LeBron get early DUNKS and have to defend and then check him in the fourth quarter missing free throws and short arming buckets. if you let him be lazy early, he's going to kill you in the second half. open 3s and little defense is a recipe for lbj to kill you in the second half.

this may not be a good theory but watch for when lbj is really good early... not just good because he's spectacular but the way he is doing it, dunking a lot and doing it all, bet he plays mediocre late.

Playing soft to save for later... Ah, no thanks

If rotations need tweaking for optimum effort, so be it. How'd fast break basketball work back in the day? By taking possessions off? Or subbing as needed? If coach won't play ball, we'll... Bust ass and make him take you out when gassed, even if it effs with his mathematically precise rotations

****, sorry to hear this bisme, I bond strongly with my pets so I really feel for you. Even though Rosie had a long life it doesn’t make the end any easier.

Go easy on yourself for awhile.

And the same poster went on to say it happened last year as well with Smart and Williams. Are they soft too? It's just the way the NBA is now - guys would foul out in 1st quarter if they played it according to older rules when guys were "tough" and "hard".

Yep, if you play like the 80s and 90s then you would foul out every game.

Besides, physicality was not the issue against the Pacers.

The Cs just allowed too many scores on drives to the basket by the Pacers.

That would not have happened if KP was playing.

Cs not winning a chip if they don't have KP.
