Both the Thunder and TWolves have a talented young core with a solid supporting cast. I am a little surprised to see the Wolves as high as they are, but not nearly as surprised by that as I am by Orlando's great start to the season. I did not see that coming at all, and maybe it's just my confirmation bias, but I don't think they'll be able to sustain this level of player down the stretch. I can see them finishing the season in the bottom-half of the playoff teams.

I think the difference to me between the two (and I've mentioned this earlier in the thread) I think the Wolves have looked like a true contender if they hold this level. I don't feel like the Magic look like that. The Magic look like a Top 8 team to me, but they are a tier below Bucks, Celtics, Sixers, and probably a tier below Knicks, Heat, Cavs too. Thats a little more debatable though.
The Magic play the Knicks, Heat, and Cavs this month. I think the Magic are better than those teams, but we'll see.

y’all not there yet young grasshopper. i really like what orlando is building and your time is coming soon, but the knicks, heat and i’ll say even the cavs are better than y’all. orlando will come back down to earth pretty soon. i still think y’all will be in the play in picture tho
We'll see soon.

The rest of the East should be scared. We've had 2 starters out, and we still have $7m in cap space.

The game in Mexico was considered a home game by the Magic, so we should be a little higher. After the next 2 weeks, the Magic should be in the middle of the pack in the strength of the schedule.

Thats the only real point im trying to make. I like the Magic team and love the story, I'm just looking at the SOS and the quality of their wins, and I don't think it is quite as big a surprise as many are making it out to be. I think ultimately this team will end up closer to 41 then the 57 game win pace they are on right now.
I guarantee the Magic won't go 27-35 to finish out the season. If the wheels came off, I could see 31-31.

The thing about schedule strength is it doesn’t always even out. (It’s also circular because it’s affected by all the team wins.) The Magic remaining SOS is 25th. The month of December is pretty brutal though so we’ll see what happens.

Heck, we’ll see what happens tonight. Their defense slipped during the winning streak until the Nets punched them in the mouth. We’ll see if the defense is for real this month.

The Magic played without Isaac, Wendell, and Suggs. Don't worry about us, we'll be fine.

I'm circling the Magic's games against the "higher tier" Knicks on my calendar.

Teams like the Magic, Rockets, Thunder and Wolves have taken pretty big leaps this year in terms of consistency. While teams like Grizz, Warriors, Clippers and Suns look pretty up & down.

Just a little ahead of the Knicks. They both have the same strength of schedule now.

Late reply but this is just the Bucks narrowly winning a bunch of games and playing a very easy schedule so far. Not sustainable
