I actually think a holiday tournament would be the better move, but then you only have one thing to promote instead of an additional thing. It would still be considered "Christmas". Now, the league has something to promote all year to lunatics like us.

Free Agency/Lottery/Draft/Summer League/Training Camp/Preseason/Season/In-Season Tournament/Christmas/Trade Deadline/All-Star Game/Play-In Tournament/Playoffs/Finals/Free Agency

I think it would make sense if we were expanding IST Games. Like my 'dream' (for a lack of better word since I don't really care that much) would be once up to 32 teams:
-4 Pods of 8 teams
-Each team plays 7 IST games, which means IST has to be later
-Pod winner and 4 WCs
-Knock out Round XMas Day has 4 games
-December 26 has 2 games for Semi-Finals (Alot of people have off or lazy day)
-New Years Eve - 2 games for Finals and 3rd place (Put in big money for All Tourney teams and 3rd place prize money to keep it competitive)

Good idea overall. No way you can have a B2B in there for the end of the tournament though. Especially if the Xmas Day knock out games are still home games like they were this week. You'd have to play Dec 25 then give 1-2 days off for travel to Vegas. IMO you'd still want the Xmas day games at home, if they're in Vegas no one will be there.

I guess I'm against expanding this (although I bet they do). Right now each team plays 4 games, perfect. Then Quarterfnals/Semi/Championship.

One thing I hate is that the NBA playoffs go on for 2 months. 7 game series after 7 game series. This is short and sweet, just the opposite. I like it.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

If last night wasn't an IST game, I think the Bucks would've beat the Knicks by about 20-25 points. :dontknow:

I wouldn't change too much about the IST, but I think more randomization in the groups, i.e. not limiting it to east/west would be fun. We don't need this to be constricted by conferences.

I'm OK with only the 4 teams in each conference making it but I think adding a few more group play games would probably be good. It was a little strange that we were so close to being either the 1 seed or not in at all.

It would be expanding the IST Group Play. Feel 3 games is too small of a sample size for legitimacy (if there is any). It would just be moving the Knock-out round to Vegas.

Agree, even having the EC designated as the early game is dumb. Granted it would be with the Lakers still in it, but why make it the default. Make the pods for the most interesting outcome.

I think you underestimate the amount of people who travel for Holidays. But I guess asking players to spend a week in vegas over 2 holidays would be a bit much. Also, we need to see what the crowds are like this year. Maybe Vegas bombs if it is a bunch of rich LA people in Vegas who buy up all the tickets and leave when Lakers lose to the Pelicans?

I get its extra costs and probably bitching from teams playing in a crappier arena but ideally from a TV perspective you do game 1 at UNLV and game 2 at T-Mobile.

I could be wrong, but feel they made the games spread out so they could sell separate tickets. Again, there are some pros to it but it makes for horrible viewing. College basketball tourney games are 2.5 hours apart. 3 Hours makes it more palatable for tv. You have a game, then 45 min of talking heads and then more basketball.
Start at 330PST/630EST and 6:30 PST/9:30EST.

Good call. You're right they are separate tickets. You can buy one, two or all 3 games. They have to empty it out after our game.

Agreed. Makes it more world cuppy. Group of death based on the selections and if people think they are fair. Eliminating the conference play is another way to get a star player from the West in front of East fans one extra time. And another way to not have to play someone in your division yet another time.

Not sure why all the NBA talking heads have to weigh in with ‘changes’. Very happy with how this thing turned out. And I give Griff props for running up the score in that early game. Dude (or Giannis) knew point differential could be important.

Don’t change a thing.

Adam Silver took all sorts of crap for the IST but the players actually have been trying harder and it’s been more fun for fans than rando games this time of year.

Props.

This + the play-in could end up big parts of his legacy.

Pretty easy to implement a trophy/reward for best record in season as well. IMO an extra pick would be an excellent reward for the team that wins that.

Mo Wagner's trash talk vs many players including KD and Giannis backfired multiple times.

"damn that rookie is an ****"

and nothing has changed except mo's no longer a rookie

I am not a violent person and I want to throw Mo Wagner off of a cliff. I'm irrationally upset that he's actually a good enough player to hang in the league. I didn't want to ever see him again after he graduated.

First the NBA double, next the NBA Treble.

The Joel Embiid Regular Season Trophy?

It’s going to be a big legacy because he’s going to add teams in Vegas and Seattle before he’s done.
