Re: 2023 Season
Ross Dwelley has a high ankle sprain and will miss a few weeks. Obviously this makes Charlie Woerner, who has also been underwhelming in his own right, our primary TE2. But Dwelley is also one of our better workhorses on special teams and his absence will be missed there. Niners need to decide whether to bring up rookie Brayden Willis, who isn't much help on special teams, or perhaps another position player who can contribute immediately on special teams and pray that both Kittle (especially!) and Woerner stay healthy.

Avoided all the weaknesses, like the Eagles pass rush, especially vs. the right side of the OL and DBs being matched vs. their playmakers, Brown and Smith.
In fact the DL didn't do too much, should have had a couple of coverage sacks because the secondary held up pretty well, though you held your breath every time Hurts was picking out one on one balls to Brown and Smith.
Hope the 49ers can get HFA, because going back to Philly when the weather will be bad is something to avoid.
Perhaps I may be mistaken, but it seemed like the DL specifically played to push the pocket to contain Hurts scrambling forward. Bosa and, I think, Gregory got close a few times and forced Hurts to really retreat and have to scramble horizontally. Secondary totally balled out as well.
I didn't see a lot of DE/DT stunts as I'm guessing they didn't want to give Hurts easy run lanes. Lane Johnson played tough against Bosa, but the dude jumps early at least half the time. That infamous time Bosa tried a swim move and slipped, you could see in the replay Lane Johnson hooking his arm for an obvious hold that didn't get called as well. But the refs largely let them play.
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS

Re: 2023 Season
Well, we are clearly the best team in the league right now. Can we turn that into the so valuable number one seed? I think we can, maybe 50% chance at this point. Philly is now a bit exposed as they won some games they should have lost. I think Dallas beats them this week and then we have to hold serve. Not easy to run the table though. I hope it doesn't come down to 2 kicks: moody missing from 41 to beat Cleveland and them making from 59 for overtime and the eventual win against the Bills.

Another wasted 3rd round RB pick, but they also drafted him to backup Mitchell before they traded for CMC.

Ugh. Unbelievable. If only literally everyone thought that was an awful draft pick when we made it....
This team has been exceptional in the late rounds, but so bad in rounds 1-3. That has got to improve at some point. We can't keep blowing high picks and expect to remain competitive.

Re: 2023 Season
Not to mention that we cut some promising players who were picked up by other teams (D'Shawn Jamison, for example) to keep TDP.

Lol after I saw the article about his release I was thinking someone might need to check up on you. Your biggest frustration. I totally get it. Another third round RB bust. Hard to understand why they keep drafting guys here.

Yeah, this stuff makes me crazy. To be fair, late-3rd rounders don't hit all that often. The guy I wanted was Maryland safety Nick Cross, who has only played about 11% of the defensive snaps for the Colts. Certainly no guarantee another guy would have hit. But it was pretty clear that TDP did not offer good value at the spot we picked him. Just like Cam Latu didn't offer good value when we picked him in the third. At least take a shot on a player at a position where you can't routinely hit on guys at the end of the draft and UDFA.

Re: 2023 Season
Not to mention that Brian Robinson went five picks later, so even if we were going to take a RB, we could have taken a better one. Robinson was bigger, faster, more explosive. He had more receptions his last year than TDP had in his career. Neither appeared to be great fits for our system. Just a bad pick on a guy most people thought would be there in the 5th or 6th round.

Re: 2023 Season
I will say, reviewing the draft picks from that area does make me feel a bit better. I liked Perrion Winfrey, and he's already on his second team. I liked Dylan Parham, too, but he went before TDP. He certainly hasn't been stellar, but his PFF grade is a solid 10 points better than Banks and Burford.

I think you might agree, it isn't that the pick failed, but that they used two picks on running backs that failed when this team has had success with later round/FA running backs. They could used those third round picks on other positions like the OL or CB

Yes. They had a solid RB room when they traded two fourth-round picks to take Sermon. They had a better RB room when they used the third-rounder on TDP. They had repeatedly found success with guys like Mostert (cheap FA), Breida (UDFA), Mitchell (late pick). And they kept not only using relatively high picks (particularly given the number of high picks we gave up for Lance) at the position, but using those picks for guys who just weren't even that good at the position.

Sounds like a keeper. Your wife. Not necessarily Ryan.

Well they brought back TDP to the practice squad. Mitchell is hurt again, so good insurance if he can't play this week.
