Here's the real problem, completely unrelated to player absences.

Looking at the Celtics 9 Man Rotation that sucks up nearly all the minutes, the Celtics 3 most inefficient scorers are:

Shots Per Game
6.0 Payton Pritchard
10.9 Jrue Holiday
18.7 Jaylen Brown

Those are the 3 drags on the offense. 35.6 shots per game.

The other 6 guys (Tatum, Porzingis, White, Hauser, Horford and Kornet) average a higher EFFICIENCY than your TYPICAL NBA champion.

You want to improve the offense, you either swap one of the 3 guys at the top for more efficient players or allocate the shots differently (by finding another scorer who you can give shots to, even if it’s someone that has to be traded for (I think Brown is overrated on D and Pritch, well, we know his short comings). Holiday is an actual beast, most of the time, on D.

It's painful to watch him jack up shots from 30 feet out because that's the only way he can get a shot up.

He's absolutely useless. All his moves are pointless. Everyone watching knows he's gonna dribble a bunch just to not be able to get a shot off, turn around and give it to someone else to make a play.

this board was ecstatic that Mahcussss was getting shipped out and it would free up room for PP. Cmon Now! Lets be real lmao. We need a spark off the bench and a quality BIG, then were pretty much set. PP will be a solid regular season bench piece that's about it IMO

(I think Brown is overrated on D and Pritch, well, we know his short comings). Holiday is an actual beast, most of the time, on D.

The simple solution is taking Pritchard and either trading him or moving him out of the rotation.

JB and Jrue aren't going anywhere. At least not mid-season. And their efficiency will likely get better as the season goes on - regression to the mean for both..and both will get more comfortable in a different role (JB is obviously adjusting to a different role with all of these other star players and capable scorers..Jrue is used to being the 2nd/3rd option and THE guy at PG in milwaukee..now he's a 4th/5th option but depending on who's out of the lineup for us he's sometimes 2nd/3rd option..but moreso he is still adjusting to a new team..it took white awhile to get comfortable and really start clicking once he got here.

If we could somehow turn Pritchard into a guy like Caruso, Delon Wright, Tyus Jones, Monte Morris..that could help..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Tyus Jones would be amazing but I think he makes too much.

The Kings committed to DeAaron Fox too soon and traded Haliburton. That will haunt them for years.

Forget them, WHY DIDNT WE TRADE UP??????

Cs didn't have the ammo. Plus, they are bad at drafting. They've put themselves into a position that neutralizes their draft skills. That's a good thing as they are good at acquiring draft capital. I'd like to see them get Tillman and Konchar.

I get not making shots. **** happens. But how/why did the Celtics allow 37 open/wide-open threes? That's almost all of their 3-pt attempts.

EDIT: Never mind. It might really be a defensive philosophy thing. Protect paint and corners. We allow 35.5 open/wide-open threes per game for the season, likely ATB threes. Wish we could adjust on the fly depending on who we face.

I can tolerate bad games. What irks me the most from my teams is stupidity. I like Mazzula, but against Miami, he paid too much attention to Bam and Butler while Vincent, Strus, killed his team with open 3s. The same was true last night. When a mistake becomes repetitive, it moves into the zone of stupid and it makes Joe look stubborn. He can't let the Hs beat his team. He's got to play close defense. Let them make their twos. Let Turner and Brown shoot the majority of threes. It's not hard to make the adjustment. Meanwhile, the Cs need to go inside and post against a team like Indy. It was giving me last season flashbacks. Worst loss of the year, IMHO.

My 2c.

You say you can tolerate bad games but NOT stupidity but be honest- aren't MOST bad games a result of some level of "stupidity"? Maybe you just can't tolerate bad games.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

Stupidity has a lingering effect as opposed to having a bad game or a bad day. It would be harsh of me to judge those having a bad day as opposed to calling one out who repeats mistakes. As far as the Cs are concerned, they have been generally dumb in past drafts.

  • 2015 draft Cs select Terry Rozier
    I waned Bobby Portis

  • 2016 Cs selected Jaylen Brown
I wanted Jamal Murray over Brown

  • Hindsight: 2016 Cs selected Guerschon Yabusele and Ante Zicic while passing up Pascal Siakam

  • 2016 Cs selected Abdel Nader
I wanted Fred VanVleet who had a great career at Wichita St

  • Cs trade down from #1 to #3 in the 2017 draft
I wanted Tatum sooo bad and Danny gives me a bad case of heartburn with this trade. Fortunately, Danny gambled and won, but what did he win? That unnecessary gamble led to the 2019 draft.

  • 2019 draft Cs select Romeo Langford (what a prize)
    I wanted Jordan Poole

  • 2019 draft Cs select Grant Williams
    I wanted, yep, Jordan Poole

  • Hindsight: 2020 draft Pritchard over Bane

Poole killed the Cs in the Finals.

I agree. I get that Americans see it as an insult, but over here the response would be 'if you don't want your opponents taking meaningless shots after they've beaten you, get angry BEFORE they win the damn game, and do something about it.'

How about Tre Jones?
San Antonio don't appear interested in playing an actual point guard too much...

A mostly healthy Caruso would be pretty sweet.

With you 1000% on 2016. Wanted the same guy. Was at that draft party. Met Gporman there. Had a little talk about Brown after we drafted him. Would never admit it in a million years but I got the impression that he was a Murray fan too.
