We have two guys who were tops in DPOY of the year last year. Giannis is a cheat code on D. Most good teams cover for having several poor individual defenders in the rotation. Probably because they don't have their poor individual defenders try to cover people 40 ft from the hoop and instead focus on a solid team system (like we had before this year). Having Giannis as the swiss army knife cheat code should make it easier. Yea ideally you'd want a ballhawk defensive G to cover for Lillard and I don't expect top 5 or anything, but getting to basic competency should not be hard with this roster. Most of the time the D scheme/system is just laughable.
Resident Lillard truther since 2015.

We were the best in our championship season 20-21. All our 4 stars were younger and overall healthy: Giannis, Khris, Jrue and Brook.

In 21-22, Brook had this major back problem followed by surgery, Khris too was beginning to get some smaller injuries. We were good but less so. Jrue was great defensively.

In 22-23, Brook had a great year, Khris had a lot of injuries and then our big 3 really was Giannis Brook and Jrue. Jrue had to pick up a lot of the offense in the absence of Khris and his defense was still great but he was tired and therefore defense was less good than before but still good though less so in the playoffs.

In 23-24, Brook and Giannis are both still good. Khris has his offensive skills that he was so good at, but he seems to get tired and cannot sustain it over a game; his defense has worsened with age and injuries.

Now the key point: Dame is a great offensive player much better than Jrue in offense but Jrue was still more than reasonably good in offense as he showed in 22-23. However in defense Jrue is miles better than Dame who gets beaten repeatedly. Overall then, it seems to me that we lost more than gained in the Dame/Jrue trade. If that surmise is correct, together with Khris' decline and tiredness, we truly are a worse team on paper.

This is why we are overall worse today than last season. The optimal time was 20-21. on paper, as reflected in the championship.

Oh I forgot, we had Bud in 20-21, 21-22 and 22-23 and have AG in 23-24. I feel AG is a worse coach than Bud but the team AG has is worse than the previous three years, considering offense and defense both together.

It is not a surprise what we are seeing in the performances then.

Dame's not that bad defensively. Dame & Beasley as a combo is the issue.

They can get hot & make insane runs together on the court. But against elite guards & intelligent teams, that backcourt is impossible. It makes Brook & Giannis overhelp. Griff wants rebounding to improve but he's putting his box man out of position.

David Blatt was fired when the Cavs were 30 - 11, number 1 in the conference and went on to win the chip with his replacement.

I forgot all about this. Horst might have to pull a Riley like the ‘06 Heat and come on down to the sidelines.

The team out west with the #1 record right now hired their coach (Finch) early in the season also.

Again the issue is Mids playing like Dame isn't on the team.

Between this current thread and the linked thread, you could pick a comment about the coaching, defense, and Brook at random and probably not be able to tell what year it’s from.

lol we were really out on Brook then. Pushing for Diakite even.

I think we are in a better place now. Need another wing added somehow so we have more flexibility to go Giannis at center lineups for when Brook can be played off the floor

Yep pilfered a top Assistant from another team (and picked him over another certain assistant on said team…)

I’m once again begging the Bucks to get Kenny Atkinson.

I’m guessing Dame isn’t happy either since he probably leaked this to Haynes

I’m going to go out on a limb and say this is players on the team using Bobby as the mouth piece. It would seem pretty odd if our 6th man had the pull to be THE guy to go after the coach.

In all fairness, Finch has been coaching them for a few years now.

And Griffin has a Bucks squad vying close to #1 despite his incompetence.

Pat Riley wasn't an ex Fed Ex guy. Horst isn't going to be coach
but he should be examining options for a new plug.

How compatible are Kenny's schemes with respect to the current Bucks players' offensive and defensive skills? I ask because that is a big problem with AG, and Nurse being also from AG's old team would probably have had similar scheme tendencies and if so, would have been bad for the Bucks.

Hopefully Bobby didn't challenge them to a 1 on 1.

Or Giannis. GA & Dame are both linked with Haynes.

Unfortunately Bobby called out the offense and not the defense.
