We are talented enough that it would not shock me to watch Dame and Giannis just go god mode and drag us to a title in spite of coaching but damn it's depressing to think about how we'd feel right now with a legitimate coach

So let's say a first round exit to Miami and Dame asks to be traded. Is that what we want to wait for? And face it, Dame has no ties to Milwaukee so he isn't going to be afraid to blow it up ala James Harden.

Granted that it’s Reddit, but most of the idiots on Bucks Reddit still love Griff.

Even if they go "God Mode" they won't drag us to a playoffs. Embiid and Maxey can match them, Celtics can match them. Hell, the Pacers look like they can match them, even in God Mode.

I don't want to wait for that, i don't think he is the correct hire, but if they did fire AG 20 games in, who was giannis hand picked coach, wouldn't they piss giannis off? it's a simple fix in theory but lots of **** in the background will be unearthed. that's why you have to wait for the playoffs and see how it plays out. if we are going to let dame and giannis figure it out, we have to let the coach at least try and figure it out too, even if it gets really bad.

Giannis is awesome. Stone cold sober & brutally honest presser.

Too bad the team didn't have the same mentality to focus on the opponent. "People talk about the money & the atmosphere"..."I don't talk in the lockerroom, i don't know. i just plan for the opponent in front of me. That's how I've always been".

Obviously enamored with Haliburton.

If it is coaching or the organization, he won't blame them because ultimately the players are responsible on the court. Feels allusory to something on that front though. "You hope the coaching staff puts you in place to succeed. But at the end of the day..." Its the players job to hustle back on defense, know what they're doing offensively. Grab rebounds.

Could be calling out Bobby/bench. "Their bench kicked our butt" " I don't normally look at the stat sheet but they were all +10 when they came in. We have to be better".

"Are we going to go to our rooms & sulk? Or are we going to break bread & talk about it?"

Bud is not the answer, despite being superior to Grififin in several areas.

I think it's a great thing that there is open discussion among the players and with the coaches on what's wrong.

That never would have happened with Bud. The players tuned out Bud long before he was fired. Anyone who was at a game and saw what happened during timeouts knows there was zero communication or interaction between Bud and the players.

Timeouts under Bud were one long rest period with Bud taking all but 20 seconds standing with his staff at the free throw line. After several years, he had nothing left to say and certainly wasn't open to tweaks or changes.

I think Portis speaking out (whether his particular beef is right or wrong) can only help.

Lastly, the hate on Doris Burk is well-deserved. I never want to hear her voice again. I'd give up the Portland second rounder just to vanquish Burk and Novak.

Don't get me started on that place. Dumbest Bucks fans on the planet.

Not to say thinking Griff should stay on inherently makes you dumb, but Bucks Reddit has always been UNDER-reactionary to insane degree. Kidd would still be our coach if it was up to them.

We didn’t have Dame yet, so I don’t think it’s so much this. Also, by all accounts, Giannis has always been considered coachable, and the team around him was filled with good dudes.

I think it’s a pressure cooker position, with championship or bust stakes, that had/has an aging core with few assets of improving.

We then proceeded to get Dame.

I do think, though, a big piece could be how this impacts a coaches legacy/career trajectory. He’d be directly following a coach with a great reputation, who averaged like 57 win pace per year, and won a title. That’s hard to stack up against.

Yeah, the Bud thing is never happening. If they want to get some of that Bud structure back, they probably should have hired Charles Lee. He might have had a better chance of keeping this team doing what it does best, while also taking into consideration different adjustments that Bud stubbornly ignored.

What I don't get, is Griffin and Horst had all summer to adjust the roster a bit better for the way Griffin wants to run things, but instead he's just neutering all our good defensive players for what they do best and they look all discombobulated. The roster needs changes for this to work, or the coach needs to go if he can't understand how to use his guys.

We regressed defensively in the last 10 games. Offensive we remained the same(great).

Think you’re missing the point. For most of this season, the team doesn’t look like it knows what it’s doing out there. On defense and on offense.

We win because we have TWO of the top SIX scorers in the entire league last year on our team. And one of them is a former 2x MVP and DPOY. A coach like Chauncey Gardner can roll the ball out on the court, and this team will get wins by osmosis with that talent.

We could have John Wooden, Dr. Jack Ramsay, and James Naismith on the sideline and still not go undefeated. Nor could a basketball mastermind prevent Middleton from bouncing the ball off Brook's head when attempting a pass to him, or many of the other awkward things that occurred on the bright blue court.

My point is not that we don't occasionally look lost, unpurposeful and badly spaced. It's that the adjustment period is called an adjustment period because it is characterized by those things.

This team is not perfect, but as you point out it is immensely talented. When the snow that is yet to come starts melting into gray slush on 4th Street, I predict your anxiety level will be much lower.

Appreciate your optimism but all of mine for Griffin has been diminished. It's not just what happened in Vegas, it's been a running theme of constantly doing things your personnel is not equipped to do.

We're kinda ****. Firing him now would be the worst optics ever. We just fired a championship coach and his replacement can't make it to the All Star break? We'd look erratic as heck to potential coaches and the job security aspect of working for this team would limit the number of candidates who would even be interested.

Stotts might be the only realistic option if he saw first hand that Griff is a dolt, he'd understand the decision to move on from him so quickly that someone from outside of the situation might not understand.

I feel the same frustration as the torches-and-pitchforks people here, but where I differ is that I see the problems as transitional and not irremediable. Yeah, it sucks for everybody not to be assignment-sure, as Mike McCarthy used to say when he got tired of talking pad level, but here we sit a game off the #1 seed and nothing but room for improvement.

Non c'è rosa senza spine, as they say in Italian. Many are looking at the thorn and not the rose. I hope they don't get, um, pricked.
