Is isolation even important. James Harden dominated this stat with more than 2x isolation points than any other player in the NBA in the 2018, 2019, and 2020 seasons with solid efficiency (in 2018 he average 1.22 ppp on iso players over the entire season compared to Luka's current 1.26), yet it never looked like winning basketball in the playoffs. I question the value of extremely high volume isolation for any team.

If that's just based on James Harden that might be hasty. Luka has been very good in the PO and his teams have generally overachieved, while Harden's individual stats and team success usually diminished some. (Not to mention that this story might be different if the Rockets caught a few lucky bounces at key times.)

On the court the Spurs are giving up 116.5 points per 100. Off 127.4. So you can make a case they're the worst defense and he's ALSO that good a defender. Kinda wild and this early these stats should be looked at pretty lightly.

Did those rockets even underachieve? They didn't win a ring, but there were some years that they felt like a bigger obstacle to the dynasty warriors than LeBron.

I like all those players, but how many PGs would lead the #1 offense with those guys? I think none. He simply makes his teammates better. He has the impact of Chris Paul but is a better 3pt shooter and runs with a fast pace offense like KJ did...I bring those guys up since I watched them a lot on the Suns. KJ made his teammates a lot better too with a fast pace and way dynamic.

Surprised you didn't mention Nash.

Yeah, thought of him. I guess he might be the perfect mix of the two I brought up and was the best shooter, similar to Haliburton. He kind of has some traits of all of them.
With the Suns tradition of having great PGs (Kidd too), Haliburton was right there for the taking. If they had a lineup now of Haliburton, Booker, Bridges, Cam Johnson and Ayton, there is little doubt they'd be the #1 offense. I think Ayton would have been great in his offense too. He was much better at a faster pace.
