Re: Monty is the problem
Worst thing he’s doing is slowly killing guys confidence.
You can clearly see this by how they play, body language, and overall team morale.
Gores is not getting what he paid for.
But Gores is at least partly to blame as well. I think Monty was trying to be honest about not wanting to coach, but Gores “fixed” that by throwing crazy money at him.

Re: Monty is the problem
Surely Monty can't be enjoying this very much either. Wonder if he would entertain a buyout, or if he is intent on keeping all the money he's owed even if it means enduring this for a few more seasons.

i am very confident in saying no coach in the league could have this roster at 5+ wins right now.

The roster is the problem. Monty lost the locker room tho.

Re: Monty is the problem
I don’t know if this mess is all on Monty, but he was clearly not looking at coaching after last season but got an offer he couldn’t resist.
Who knows if his heart is in it or if this is how he has always been, but something needs to change. There’s no point being strict with a system if it’s not going to help the team. He has this roster and he needs to make it work.

What’s the solution to losing the locker room?
Replace all the players that didn’t buy in?

Yes. Monty have a 6 years contract, he is not going anywhere. Start dumping players and bring in professional players even if they're more limited on the court.

The worst team in the league will have a hard time trading our “talent” for “more limited” players who are also professionals.

Another problem with your idea is that this is a player’s league. Not a coaches league

Yes it’s either that route or drop Monty. Someone has to chose the route and soon. Sucks tho cause I don’t think any of these guys want to play for Monty anymore, not sure any are worth keeping either, but I mean cade was a unanimous #1 overall pick, so you’d think he is, he has lost interest tho. Just sad sad situation. **** sucks, but hey I’m a lions fan been through some rough times. Even now them not gettin defensive help at the trade deadline. This is the saddest I’ve felt on the state of the pistons became a fan around 94-95. Sad sad state. Tough decisions to be made yesterday

Yeah sad state to be in, but a side has to be picked players or mont imo. Not all players but the big ones/one

The roster was worse last year and they had 5 wins at this point. Casey never lost the locker room like this.
Dude's got Ivey camped in the corner, or randomly playing tiny spurts and back to the bench regardless of how he plays. Says it's about defense but then we watch guys like Cade, Bagley, Bojan, etc get torched and nothing... He's got Ausar playing the Joe Harris role as 3-point specialist off the bench. His defensive schemes are horrendous. He changes the rotation every day. No one knows if/when they're gonna play. The conspiracy theorists are onto something here. I can't fathom how a dude making these decisions was looked at like a top-tier coach in the offseason.

Re: Monty is the problem
This team has systemic issues.
There’s no one part you can excise and fix this.
I know when things go badly there’s a desire to find one easy person or thing to blame- it’s more satisfying.
I don’t think people understand how many different people and things need to fail to be THIS bad. It can’t just be bad coaching.

If the fans can see how horribly Monty is handling this team (lineups, rotations, X’s and O’s, etc), the players definitely can. They are front row and center to everything.

Gores needs to clean house.
Fire all the Tellums (lol), Weaver, and Monty. Fire all the scouts. The core of the organization is rotten.

Who decides that? If Monty isn't Weaver's guy, but Ivey is his guy, why would Weaver dump Ivey? Or is Gores going to fire Weaver and basically make Monty the proxy GM? We've already heard rumblings that the front office doesn't like how Monty has handled Ivey.
It's not just Pistons fans that think Monty has been horrible. It's been talked about by lots of media personalities around the league that have actually paid attention. I wouldn't be shocked if they worked on a buyout and Monty basically resigned "to spend time with his family" or whatever. Can't imagine Monty wants to hang out for 6 years of this after wanting to go on vacation.

Monty is a big part of the problem and that's obvious, but this start with Gores being clueless, Tellem only being interested in stealing Gores money and Weaver being terrible and collecting as many pay checks as he possibly can before getting fired.
The players are a bunch of losers and quitters so they're also a big part of the problem, but Stewart shouldn't be playing out of position, when his skillset doesn't fit that role, Cade has tried really hard, but it's hard to continue trying when you're surrounded by inept players, and Ivey probably was never coached in his entire life, and his response when held accountable was unnaceptable.
The only guy responding well at this point is Killian Hayes, the worse we get, the harder he play and the better he perform.
Houston didn't just sign a few vets, they dumped a ton of young players for nothing (TyTy Washington / Usman Garuba / Josh Christopher / KJ Martin / Kevin Porter Jr.), and focused on developing only a few of them (Jabari/Sengun/Green) Eason and Amen are on the roster but clearly they're not the focus for them.
We need to dump most of our young players, chose 2-3-4 to focus and sign a bunch of guys in their prime, but first Tellem and Weaver need to go, they're not capable of doing anything right.

Re: Monty is the problem
I wanted to give him a long leash but I'm on board with Monty being *a* problem. But I also 100% agree that when you're this bad, there's no way it's just one thing. Fire Monty, fire Weaver, trade half the team. This is a garbage fire.

Gores already showed he is not going to continue with Weaver's crap. Weaver wanted another scapegoat coach, and Gores hired a coach who's contract is way longer than Weaver. Weaver already lost the power struggle with Monty/Gores. Next season we will have a new GM, hopefully sooner than that.
