if Exum makes shoots then he will play a lot minutes otherwise if he doesn't make shoots he still is a 15minutes role players. That's simple.

This lacks basketball sense concerning the Mavs. This thinking is aligned to catch and shoot basketball. Exum has never been a catch and shoot specialist. His game is pace and create by collapsing the defenses for open shots for his team mates or blow byes to the basket.
The passing between Luka ,Kyrie and Exum is gonna cause alot of problems for opposing defenses. Those that dont know basketball think Exum is suppose to wait for a pass from Luka or Kyrie to take a catch and shoot 3 . When Exum gets a pass from them the defense is already scrambling and Exum has his opening to do what he does best ,attack the basket.

Marginally out of control, Kyrie in the wrong place at the wrong time, and it being Dwight Powell has caused a complete melt down on Mavs twitter.

To be fair, Powell had no business going for that ball the way he did. He saw Kyrie is there and the opposing player was basically already holding the ball but he decided to jump over Kyrie for whatever reason. It was his dumb decision and yea unfortunately Kyrie suffered for that.

Exum was always bad luck ,he missed a season when TJ Warren landed on him when Exum was on the floor in a pre season game .TJ Warren ,whos not a shotblocker jumped and had no chance at a blocked shot and landed on Exum when he was laying on the floor .Powell wasnt gonna make any plays when he landed on Kyrie ,bad choice on Powells part,

Exum has EARNED his playing time . Exum not only scored but continues to get assists and for good measure fights for rebounds . Can we now say he is a legit 3rd ballhandler who doesnt turn the ball over while speeding up the pace for the Mavs.

In fairness to whoever said that Exum in the first games of the season looked nowhere near how he looks now. Now he's an absolute asset.

Maybe this is finally enough reason to trade Powell for a bag of potato chips and case of powerade?

WE WILL NEVER TRADE OR NOT RESIGN POWELL.

We can only hope for a carrer ending injury for him but he is also a lucky guy so we are done.

You are right man nobody here has never said that Exum is a bad basketball player (he was a #5 draft pick), but in PO Luka&Kyrie will average 40minutes so Exum has to make those 3s otherwise opposite teams will double them easily... And Grant, DJJ, Green too.

His carrer was not so special for that (obviously injuries too). Is he improved? We will see in real games...

I can understand your personal battle but you can't change my posts, if Exum makes shoots then he will play a lot minutes otherwise if he doesn't make shoots he still is a 15minutes role players. That's simple.

He played great lately but Jazz and Blazers were lottery team without rim protectors Exum needs to prove that he can scores against good teams.

Anyway Powell makes another huge step ahead in his career, he is still unplayble but now he injuries second best player of the team. Wow. Great job scrub.

We deserved it, i hope that those who were happy by his resign finally had understand... He is not only useless but also harmful :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Exum is shooting almost 60% from 2, if you exclude his 3's. That mere fact alone says that he has finished at the rim at a high clip all season, regardless of the team he has faced. Some more facts, his PIE rating of 11.9 is the third highest on the team, only behind Luka and Kyrie. His net rating between offense and defense is +15.9, which is miles ahead of anybody else on the team, and it isn't close. He also has 38 assists in only 6 turnovers of 18 games played, which is an insane assist to turnover ration of 6.33 to 1.

One more fact, Jason Kidd has said that he isn't judged on his shooting or scoring, but how he impacts the game in other ways, as evidenced on how he impacted the Jazz game by only scoring 5 points, but doing literally everything else.

Those are the facts, and you decide what you want to do with them. If you choose to disregard them, then that's your own personal battle.

Yup, Exum was basically always a scrub in the NBA. Whatever he's doing now is nothing we have seen before. He improved a lot and plays with much more confidence but he does need to get better at shooting. That will open up entire new game for him and his contract will look even cheaper than it does now.

He's shooting 57% from 2. 39% of his shots come from basically under the rim which are layups (he's actually right behind all 3 centers) and he's shooting 70% on those, Luka for example is at 85% on very same shots. In the paint area Exum shoots around 46%, which is not so bad but nothing special either. Further away from the paint, he's shooting from around 33% to 29%.

Fact is, Exum is not a good shooter so some things 41Dirk41 mentioned are not that false. But granted he did become a better player in a very short time and his defense and confidence on offense makes him a valuable asset. Question is, top teams will counter that, they'll pack the paint and make harder for Luka and Kyrie to drive so it is 100% true that in time he'll have to develop some kind of outside shot.

DJJ is the antithesis of Reggie Bullock, bad shooter, but can attack empty lanes, high flier, athletic as all hell, isn't afraid to shoot or attack, I'm loving this signing.
Exum and DJJ are what we wanted Green to be.

Yes, the amount of refinement and development Exum has been able to achieve in Europe under 2 very good coaches, one in particular being Zeljko Obradovic who is one of the great coaches in world basketball, has been incredibly invaluable for Dante. I just want to perhaps point out to some people who might not be aware, that Dante isn't the same player he was when he exited the league.

The amount of improvement he has undergone, is pretty massive. I think part of the reason he can work well from within this team is that he doesn't have to give you 15 to 20 points a night to be incredibly effective.

He is already taking off or in the air by the time by the time Kyrie is going down and the whistle comes in. He misses the ball by a fraction of a second or he would’ve been able to hit it. And the only reason Dwight goes down at all is because Kyrie hits the opposing player mid air and still manages to fall the direction he was going which takes out Powell’s land space that he jumped from.

Basketball is a fast sport, in fact most sports are, anybody who sits on their couch, looks at a single play a dozen times, and gets on their high horse about a play and decision that happens in quite literally 1 second of game time are stupid.

**** happens. It sucks. But Powell isn’t really to blame. But considering he’s the least liked player on the team stupid people are going to be stupid about this situation.

THJ is no doctor but he made it would like Kyrie was doing pretty well after the game. After his free throws Kyrie also walked off without a huge limp. I’m guessing it’s a contusion.

Mavericks fans jerk off to highlights of Tyson Chandler tip outs but cry about Dwight doing the same thing.

I don’t even care the much about Dwight he’s a useful player sometimes for my favorite team but y’all are just pathetic.

To be fair, Powell had no business going for that ball the way he did. He saw Kyrie is there and the opposing player was basically already holding the ball but he decided to jump over Kyrie for whatever reason. It was his dumb decision and yea unfortunately Kyrie suffered for that.

Put the video in slow motion and you can literally see him jumping OVER Kyrie. He knew Kyrie was there, he even bent his legs so that he could reach over him.

Exum has EARNED his playing time . Exum not only scored but continues to get assists and for good measure fights for rebounds . Can we now say he is a legit 3rd ballhandler who doesnt turn the ball over while speeding up the pace for the Mavs.

I don't have battle to fight for Exum, i like him

Exum is playing great for the Mavs, but if he can't make 3s he will let wide open all day in PO and his man can double Luka or Kyrie and it's a problem.

Draymond Green who had an insane impact in GSW PO series was a problem for them when his 3s didn't fall. It's PO basketball.
Thybulle is a DNP guy because can't makes 3s... Ben Simmons is almost unplayble in PO because he can't shoot... Ecc ecc

It's just basketball stuff, nothing personal.
Keep calm, i don't want touch your baby.

Those **** games are almost useless, i want to see him having an impact against tough opponents...and i hope it will happens soon. Peace.

That’s exactly my point. You’re putting it in slow motion. It’s a fast sport and **** happens.

We’ve seen games where Maverick’s players don’t go for plays like that. They put in 0 effort and get demolished.

That’s also one way of putting it. One could equally say he doesn’t fully get to jump because Kyrie lands where he’s taking off.
