Ohtani is literally the best athlete in the world. Him signing with the Jays would be so surreal. I don’t know if there’s anything that would even compare to it in Canadian sports history.

It’s hard to make a comparison of baseball to basketball, because one player in basketball makes a much bigger difference. But Ohtani is hands down the most impactful player in baseball. He’s a superstar pitcher and hitter. The only other player in baseball history you can argue was both a superstar as a hitter and pitcher is Babe Ruth. And I’m not even sure he was a superstar as a pitcher.

Jays and others, but it’s why I argue that the Jays are overly reliant on free agency and trades and have to do a better job of developing their own top tier talent.
