They are winning with the SL like it is now. You can bring shooters off the bench. It makes a big difference having two guards that can defend. Haliburton looked like some dude who wasn't very good against our guards. Having a shooter who can't defend will not help.

He is less than a year out of college and is already playing against grown man.

He’ll get frustrated a lot of times but its nice to see him battling.

Yeah, still a teenager. He's got a special personality, an interesting blend of authenticity, transparency, passion, and aggression.

The teenager aspect is another reason not to worry about him trying to do too much on the court right now. We have plenty of mouths to feed. Let him play his role in peace.

I actually love the authenticity on his reactions. Especially last night when he tapped the ball out, which also confused Dante hahaha

His game really Shows he is still raw but he is trying.

Did anyone hear someone on the team yell "NOOOO!!" when he went up to block that ball that ended up being a goaltend? Haha. Seems like a good summary of both his youth and aggression.

I think that AB is coming off of two awful games, which is no big deal considering his youth.

During the Nuggets game I saw him understandably get put off by the presence of Jokic. However, his other turnovers, including those against Boston, suggest there's more at play.

He is looking LOST out there of late, which could be indicative of him struggling to adapt to what is more of a Gary Harris type role offensively. This kid has probably never been the last option on any offense his entire life, and is now expected to dribble up the court only to pass the ball off to the players who are better than him.
I worry that his offensive instincts are being subdued...instincts which made us all so enthusiastically supportive of him when he first began getting minutes...and it is leading to uncertainty and unforced errors. Hoping to see him get back on track this evening!

All in all, I know he will be fine, I'm just killing time until the Juventus and Magic games later on today :)

There's something to his turnovers coming from anticipated player motion that doesn't develop. His instincts are failing him a bit in the playmaking category in the last few games.

I wouldn't read into it too deeply. Its a question of getting more familiar with his teammates. Remember Franz, Goga, Ingles, Moe and Paolo were all off at FIBA.

Good passing is a lot to do with anticipation. Anticipation comes when you know your teammates, how they move and where they like the pass to go.

Thats going to take time and reps. In such a deep squad, Black should be pretty happy to have gotten not only minutes but starter minutes. Now that we're really motoring, the team and winning have to come first. But i dont think thats a definitive sign Black is drowning. I just think he needs more practice time with the starters and whatever minutes in games he gets he will have to earn. Which is as it should be.

Even in the short minutes last game, he had some good defensive stops. He forced Tatum to miss at the rim and Brown to travel.

I am very pleased with his play. Do I think he could do better? Yeah. Do I have concerns? Also true.

But he is playing a role, and doing very well for us on defense. He has a knack for it. You can't teach that level of proficiency anymore then you can teach height.

To me right now he is a Suggs 2.0 type project with the ability to be an even better defender with a higher free throw rate. Lots to like. If he develops even an average 3pt shot he will be highly desired and have a great career.

Ran player comps for Anthony Black based on his B-R stats so far, these are the names that come up. I think these comps are more a product of the role he is asked to play than his ability, but still I don't hate them.

Alex Caruso 2018
Dante Exum 2017
Davion Mitchell 2023
Raul Neto 2023
Dyson Daniels 2023
Tyler Ennis 2018
Acie Law 2011

Black will probably be the 2nd or 3rd best player on the team in 3 years.

Like when I said Suggs would shoot 35% this season when he was shooting 20% early on.

Black is going to be really good. It's still possible he could make an all-star team or two.

So you are saying that Black in his 3rd year will be better than Franz/Paolo in their 5/6th year?

Well, Rob can be right.

What if we traded Paolo and/or Franz…
