Is Markkanen an upgrade over Tobias, yes. Is he big enough to include all those picks? Absolutely not!
As a Sixer fan this is an easy pass. Even if Markkanen was an iron man, this would be an overpay, and he’s no iron man.

You're wrong, Lauri is a massive upgrade over Tobias and is absolutely worth those picks.

Any interest in turning Tobi, Morris, and two firsts into Grant, Brogdon, and DFS.

Playoff Rotation:
Maxey & Brogdon / Melton
Grant & DFS / Batum, Oubre, RoCo
Embiid / Reed

All starters are two way players.
Brogdon would be point with Maxey out.
Maxey and Embiid are the clear cut guys on the team with Grant and Brodgdon as the next guys when either Maxey or Embiid are on the bench.
The backups are long, athletic players that can plugged in almost any lineup.
And literally every guy can hit the three so you can spread the floor.

Yes, absolutely if we could swing that.

Not sure how value would look in a 3 way deal? But Grant's contract almost certainly makes it untenable, to say nothing of Brogdon's extensive injury history.

WOW, do I hate this trade for the Sixers.
We give up a quality starting power forward for a washed up Thompson and a backup center.

Willing to take the risk that Klay can still hit a whole bunch of catch and shoot 3's while not being food on defense.

Not me. I think it’s pretty obvious Klayn is finished. I’ve actually been a long time fan of him. I wish him well, but he’s done I’m not trading Tobias for him. IMO the Sixers are not getting anywhere close to fair value for him. I guarantee if the Sixers trade him they’ll do better than this trade.

Sixers out- Tobi, KJ Martin, ‘26 OKC 1st and ‘29 pick swap
Sixers in- Caruso, Gary Trent Jr and Boucher

Bulls out- DeRozan and Caruso
Bulls in- Tobi, ‘26 OKC 1st, ‘29 pick swap via Phil, and 2 2nd’s via Tor

Raptors out- Gary Trent Jr, Boucher and 2 2nd’s
Raptors in- DeRozan and KMart Jr

Have a 9 man playoff rotation of Maxey-Caruso-Oubre-Batum-Jo-Melton-GTJ-Boucher-Reed. Pat Bev, RoCo and Morris still in the mix as well

This interestingly would fill in alot of needs but would leave us without a 3rd option. Deepest team in the league .

Do you believe this would be a more secure , viable option than overpaying for a player this offseason,?

You are aware that Klay is beyond washed, right? Honestly, what is he offering us at this point?

Hell, I'd rather work a deal for Caruso and leave the Warriors out.

It’s definitely an interesting discussion in my opinion. For instance- In ‘25 would you rather keep Melton + Caruso + Oubre + GTJ for let’s say $60M combined(using bird rights)…or sign just OG in free agency for $40+M?

I can see arguments for both sides, but I tend to lean more towards the right depth pieces around Jo and Maxey route.

Here's the give the people what they want, Elton Brand style mid season rework of the team:

Marcus Morris, Jaden Springer, 2 1st round picks for OG Anunobi

Sixers get a defensive ace. Raptors get decent value for an expiring guy.

Tobias Harris for Zach LaVine, straight up.

Bulls remove a headache, bring in an expiring that can help the current version of the team before a complete off-season blow up.

Sixers buy low on a scorer with the intent to finally spend some serious money this summer.

Tyrese Maxey
Zach LaVine
OG Anunobi
Nic Batum
Joel Embiid
Bench: Melton, Oubre, Covington, Reed

I don't like LaVine at all, but that team would be pretty well balanced.

Also, both deals are probably light on value, but don't care.

The Sixers roster would be very balanced.
I would be behind those deals made in tandem. More perimeter based offense and less Jo turning the ball over. Plenty of bodies to throw at Tatum and Brown and Giannis.

Honest question- what are the logistics of having Jo/LaVine/OG/Maxey under contract for next season and beyond? That’s gotta be like $170(ish)M right there for 4 guys?

Yes. Ownership would have to approve being a 2nd apron team for at least the following three years.

Depends on how much the cap jumps over the next few years, but yeah, they'd at least be a 2nd apron team next year.
