Running out of superlatives for Derrick White

I have A thought.. I think you can make an argument That white is the best role player in the nba right now.. I'll start by saying how he is such a great compliment to almost any style.... An extremely underrated defender and now approveing clutz shooter.. He can't play on the ball or off the ball.. Doesn't need a lot of shots to make an impact.. Probably a great locker room guy. And i'm sure I missed a few..

I said it before. He may be sacrificing much more of his offense to fit in with these 6 starters than anyone realizes. I think he's absolutely capable of being a 19-20ppg scorer as a 3rd banana if he got a few more shots. Instead he's maybe the most hyper-efficient, lethally opportunistic role guy in the league.

I mainly just watch the celtics so I can't speak as much to how much players on other teams improve. BUT the amount that White has improved as a shooter compared to the 2022 playoffs when he was scared to take a 3 to what he is now...and the amount Hauser has improved as a defender from going undrafted (mainly because he couldn't defend a chair as a college senior) to what he is now. idk if there's 2 players in the league who have improved at a specific skill over the past couple yrs as much as those 2..

I was having the exact same thoughts about both players. The latest adjustment in White's shooting is a quicker release, quicker readiness to shoot after receiving a pass. He took & made a couple of very quick shots last night where he had little room and a defender closing on him.
