Off-Season (Free Agency, Trades, Rumors)

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Mon Nov 20, 2023 10:00 pm

Braves have started off by trading multiple Braves to dump salary.

We offered Aaron Nola 6yrs, $162m, but he opted to stay with Philly for 7yrs.

Essentially, the Braves flipped Kyle Wright for Jared Kelenic.

Jackson Kowar was sent to Seattle, he was just acquired in the Wright trade.

Code: Select all

For the Braves, the trade gives them a new left fielder in Kelenic and much-needed rotation depth in Gonzales. The oft-injured White could be flipped elsewhere or even released. He certainly will not unseat Matt Olson at first base. The Mariners get a solid prospect in Phillips but mostly salary relief, allowing them to upgrade other parts of their roster in the coming weeks.

Kelenic, who is still only 24, was once one of the top prospects in baseball. He has struggled mightily in the big leagues, however, and it appears Seattle has finally run out of patience. He is a career .204/.283/.373 hitter in 252 MLB games, though it was a more respectable .253/.327/.419 slash line with 11 home runs in 105 games around a foot injury this past season.

Yes, he'll be our new left fielder. He still has a ton of potential and is only 24. There won't be any pressure on him, in this stacked offense.

Are we making room for a Cease trade or what is going on with all these little mini trade/salary dumps? I really don’t see how going into next year with Strider Elder and Morton as our only 3 viable pitchers makes us true contenders even with the bats all over the lineup. Every postseason we flame out because of excellent pitching, go get some goddamn pitchers!

Gray would have been a nice pickup and one I could trust. I wish him well.

I personally believe he's worth it. I hate it that now other players will be overpaid but the Dodgers ownership will profit greatly from Ohtani.

Man, these were the days. The team listed here never won a WS, but still provided some of the great moments of my Braves fandom.

Any guesses on what season this is from?

Forgot about Max. He’s solid but he fell off down the stretch just like the rest of them. Is he a legit ace? I don’t think so and I don’t think we have one at this moment either..

I hope we can get around 25 starts out of Max in the upcoming season.

62-26 record

A CY sure would look nice under his achievements.
