He must have same agent with kyrie. Kyrie's average games played for the last 4 years are less than 45.
The last Kleber extension sounds like the Mavs outbid themselves.

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2023/24 Trade thread
How locked in to the DAL present is Lively?
ORL has a very versatile 2-way young high IQ Center, who is good at everything but elite at nothing. He's a lot more polished offensively than Lively will ever likely be and can shoot open 3's (which Luka manufactures all day). Lively might be an awesome shot blocker and rebounder, but limited otherwise...that's exactly what ORL needs. Goga has been great, in a much more streamlined role with WCJ out (back any day). I think WCJ is better than Goga (and Lively, for now) overall, but ORL's needs at C are more limited and specialized next to Paolo & Franz. I don't know if Lively is "untouchable" or would DAL consider trading high unrealized upside for more of a win-now, heady, versatile guy that might do more with Luka and Kyrie? Also, WCJ is only 24 and re-signed on a great deal.
ORL sends: Wendell Carter Jr
DAL sends: Lively & Josh Green
*I'm assuming Green isn't as highly regarded lately...If I'm wrong, ORL adds DEN 25 frp or substitutes Hardy for Green? I'm asking, I really don't know the state of things in DAL. ORL needs to add some backcourt spot up shooting without seeing their insane defensive depth and effort take a significant step back.

Wendall Carter Jr is 6'10 and groundbound ,injured last yr ,presently injured. Lively is 7'1" with 7'7" wingspan and can jump.
Just these measurements and Lively already playing better than Carter who has barely played this year says ......PASS on Carter Jr

Lively is phenomenal and is already years ahead of schedule. He is the 3rd best rookie in the NBA(in head to head games against Wemby and Chet has out played both of them) and in a normal year would contend for rookie of the year except this year has Chet and Wemby.
Lively seems like an only defend and finish lobs center but his passing is already elite. He’s shown that he can put the ball in on the floor and get to the rim when the defense is soft and he’s got baby jump hook already. Additionally, at his pro day he his a dozen 3s in a row and could shoot in high school so we have rumors that the 3 just needs to develop.
All that is to say that he is the 2nd most important mavericks player and the 3rd best player with 4 years of cheap team control. I don’t think anyone is untouchable except for MVP level players but lively is getting close. Any trade that involves a WCJ for Lively swap is going to cost multiple 1st and good prospects from Orlando as well.

Re: Dallas Mavericks 2023/24 Trade thread
This winning streak has taught me a couple of things.
1. Josh Green not being active has been a net positive for this team. He needs to go somewhere and development and get over whatever confidence issues he has. His lack of confidence and poor decision making really hurts the team and will only delay this team chances of competing for it all. If we can get better without trading him, okay fine, but if he needs to be included in a deal - that helps us improve that PF and C position, we gotta do it.
2. Exum at 6'5 gives us another decision maker that can penetrate and make plays for others. It also takes the ball out of Luka's hand (which improves pace) and allows Kyrie to focus on his natural scoring ability. I also want to point out it allows Exum to hold the other teams best guard -- and allows Kyrie to hide a bit on the other team's off guard at times.
3. With Exum's inclusion into the starting lineup - our two biggest issues are at starting PF and center. We need a veteran at center and we need to improve at the 4. Lively is playing well at 19 years old. However, he is still 19 years old (lacks strength and experience) and we cannot depend on him going into the playoffs. It's not practical. We need to improve this position, if possible, and it would be foolish NOT to if someone is out there. Jonas Valanciunas? Clint Capela? Tim Hardaway is just playing too good and I wouldn't move him. I would keep him unless a deal comes along too good to pass up.
Keepers: *unless a deal that we cannot pass up presents itself.
Irving /Exum / Curry*
Doncic / Hardaway*
D. Jones*
G. Williams
Lively
Prosper*
Should be willing to move to get better:
Josh Green - not a long term believer in him. he's not worth keeping if we miss our championship window of 3 years.
Jaden Hardy - if we want to get better, have to be willing to move him.
Maxi Kleber - If it comes down to it, we have to move to make salaries work.
Richaun Holmes - If we cam improve this position, we have to , considering how young Lively is.
I would like to add a Kuzma with a combination of those guys above. A legit 3rd scorer that makes it super hard to double Luka or Kyrie. He can handle the ball and shoot the 3 and get to the basket. He also makes us longer at the 4 and can start or come off the bench. Then we need to scoop up a veteran backup center.
Exum - pg / pace maker / decision maker/ defensive guard
Irving - scorer/ play maker/ point guard/ pace maker
doncic - scorer, point guard, play maker
kuzma - scorer, ball handler, long defender
lively - finisher, interior defense, rebounder
bench
tim hardway - 6th man and bucket getter
grant williams - undersized 4 / defender/ pays multiple positions
seth curry - backup pg or shooter
d.jones - backup sf/sg/pf and defender
Veteran center with some size that cans step in and start or steady the ship because of Lively's inexperience and lack of strength especially in the playoffs versus bigger centers.
If you cannot get Kuzma, I would settle for a Capela and Dorian Smith. However, I think Kuzma along with a solid veteran center on a 1 or 2 year deal makes us a championship contender.

1. We beat 3 of the 4 worst teams in the west on this streak. It shouldnt teach us that much. Especially considering it’s a small sample size.
2. If Green can be packaged for an upgrade then sure. But we shouldn’t commit to selling for pennies on the dollar just because we beat the Jazz or Blazers.
3. The Venn Diagram A. Centers currently better than Dereck Lively and B. Centers Dallas could afford and have a snowballs chance in hell at being available. Are 2 completely different circles. Lively is already better than the Capela’s of the world and parking Capela in front of Lively would only stunt his rapid growth. Not to mention that every asset you give up for this this dumb hypothetical people keep suggesting of “get a vet center cause yeah he’s phenomenal in the RS but magically it stops during the playoffs” is another asset that we can’t use to get our 3rd star.
4. Kuzma’s fine, for the right price. He’s whatever. I’d rather sign and trade for OG in the offseason or push all the assets into the middle and trade for Mikal Bridges.

The Smoking Cuban had an interesting trade idea.
Green/Maxi/Powell/2027 Pick for DFS/Claxton.
Obviously Claxton is the bigger catch here and a center rotation of Lively/Claxton/Holmes is enticing and reminds me a bit of a younger version of Chandler/Haywood/Mihinmi.
I think nets would want more though.

Lively is as close to being untouchable as it comes to in Dallas.
But for the sake of argument let's say Dallas would trade him. Let me start with his value. It's much much closer to Banchero than it is to WCJ.
Looks like WCJ is also an injury prone guy. He misses 20+ games every year...
Maybe a Josh Green+ for WCJ swap is more realistic?

Josh alone won't bring you much back, they will need include him in some kind of package.

Interesting to DAL, not so much for BK, Kleber is bad contract...

Your valuation is way off, WCJ if healthy isn't the same calibre of player Lively is, and he's always hurt, the difference isn't 2nd rd pick, it's multiple 1sts.
If you want a rim protecting center for WCJ Capella is roughly his ballpark, and he should be available.

I like a potential WCJ addition. Obviously not at the expense of Lively but if there's another package out there, it should be explored. Lively is awesome and all but come playoff time it would be nice to have a versatile big like WCJ. Those kind of guys play a lot, particularly in crunch time.

Probably not the most popular thing, but Draymond would be great for Mavs. Mavs have almost 0 assets, they need to look at garbage and hope for the best.

I would..although I can't see a scenario where the Mavs get rid of Powell at this point..they obviously love him and it's not because of his play..
Something small,..
PJ Tucker +Plumlee(TPE) to Mavs..
Get a defensive end, veteran/toughness..we don't need him to play big minutes, but he sure helps in limited minutes to stop opposing star forwards..Plumlee gives us size on the 2nd unit, a different profile...
Curry+Holmes +Mcdaniels to CLIPPERS.. Clippers get a lob threat that should fit well with Harden (gives them a different profile) + a veteran sniper to play on the 2 unit alongside Russ...this allows them to move Hyland+Coffey to the hole left on the Wing
.. Hyland+Coffey for Mcdaniels
1+1=11

Josh Green + Kleber for Draymond. Add Hardy if needed. I mentioned this on T&T and at least one Warriors fan liked it.

I highly doubt Warriors trade him, highly doubt Mavs go after him, but yeah, Green/Kleber/Hardy for Green is totally worth the risk for me, main risk is practice fight between him and Grant Williams.

I have a feeling that Warriors' owners have enough of him and will try to trade him. He's bad in every aspect for them and don't forget how expensive he's because of additional tax Warriors are paying.

I doubt Mavs make a huge impact trade(OG,Siakam) because they don't have the picks and the matching salaries...it's more likely they upgrade the SF position with someone like Jalen Mcdaniels,KJ Martin
