moderndarwin wrote:The thing with Dray is that he’s built this flailing and extra motions into his muscle memory now.

I legit don’t think this one was intentional he was just flailing around and happened to catch Nurk. Not that makes it excusable.

This is quite different than when he choked out Gobert. I thought that should have been like 10 games for such blatant assault. This one should be (without his history) like 2 games it was still in the context of hoops. With his history though I think they’ll make it lengthy to prove a point that he needs to really tone it down a lot if he wants to continue playing.

The man used to play intense but now he plays more angry and flailing. It’s not good.

Agreed. And that’s what makes this incident so bad, IMO. If you’re flailing so hard that it results in someone getting clocked in the face for no reason whatsoever when the ball isn’t even in play, then you’ve completely lost the plot. Like he isn’t even playing basketball at this point. The league needs to send a message before he actually hurts someone, or someone finally decides to retaliate.

I just hope Silver shows more transparency about what these conditions are for him to return. I have a feeling we’re going to see him back in 6-8 games and it’ll be like it never even happened.

"The league didn’t want to put a specific number on the suspension, but allow Green to take the time he might need to deal with challenges he’s facing."

They mean the challenge of being Draymond Green? Because that is not an easy fix.

You have the old guys in the media glorifying how tough the old NBA was
You got the fans extremely excited every time the smallest "fight" errupts, even though it's usually nothing but words
But then as soon as anyone actually does anything with their hands it's suspensions immediately.

I mean I don't mind either way, for me basketball always meant some low level violence, nothing serious, maybe a couple of bruises.

So take your pick people, what kind of hoops do you actually want? Squeaky clean or a little bit dirty? The commissar will oblige.

Few people glorify unprovoked cheap shots.

And just to add most of the fans who get excited for fights are the ones who defends incidents like this and most of the fans who hate fights attack incidents like these.

Very people adopt the contradictory stance. And even less when it involves a repeat offender.

I like a fight once in a while, although a babies one, like the KAT and Embiid one, but this man is a coward.

I think some people are underrating how important this step is.
Dray will need to agree on some steps with Silver, he will be held accountable on them and he'll be on a short leash after that.
That's how Ja got 25 games.

I haven't read through the whole thread just yet, but does anyone else actually believe Dray is now getting ready for his next career? I swear he is going to be in the WWE or whatever it's called now.
He will still do basketball commentary etc, but I can Charles Barkley GUARANTEE you he will be a wrestler when the career is done.

The NBA needs to make Green go to a psychologist if he is not already. It’s not normal behavior to lash out like this and just punch someone for no reason, and he has a history of this behavior. He could be suffering from mental illness.

Remember JA went to a part...errr I mean counseling over a weekend, in Florida, and was boom, you're healed. Praise the Lord. Welcome back.

The fact that he's allowed to practice is crazy to me.

It reminded me this one:

Just like Artest, Dray is not a bad guy, is just borderline insane.
And it's even possible neither of them did it on purpose.

This is absolute BS. JA was healed over a weekend on the cok...couch
The NBA has finally found a decent shrink there in Florida, healing players in a weekend.

It reminds me of players coming into a new season saying they have worked hard on their game over the off season and will do whatever it takes to win. Only to have the same problems from the get-go.
It's kind of like politicians in the US saying Support The Troops.

So there’s still hope that he will punch Kerr in the face? Good.

What Draymond does isn't fighting. Cold cocking someone out of nowhere, stomping them when they are on the floor, or running up to someone from behind and throwing them into a headlock is coward move. Do it face to face and do it to someone who might punch you back.

Watch old time hockey to see how fights are handled. There is a code. You don't just walk up to someone cold cock them then declare yourself Muhammed Ali

yeah i think they want to him to humble himself and "earn" his way back. i actually don't know that draymond will do it. he certainly hasn't shown that in the past, but then again he hasn't been challenged in the past. will be interesting.
