Yeah, this isn’t about Giannis’s career high, it’s that he broke the franchise record. That’s a much bigger deal.

Re: PG Pacers - Giannis Giannis Giannis!
if giannis wants the ball or doesnt want the ball it doesnt matter.
the bucks absolutely want that ball, if giannis doesnt want it for his personal collection thats a ball the bucks should display in the stadium somewhere. its important history to the franchise.
the pacers have no rights to the ball. they were losers on the road.

Anyone who thinks it's "just a ball" will never understand sentimental value of possessions. And it's wild to me that there are people like that who exist.

Yeah, I don't give a **** what the Pacers do. Unless someone threw a punch at Giannis there is zero justification for running down anothers team tunnel. More than one side could be idiots.

This "both sides" stuff is nonsense. Whether it's the media or this board.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Hali can talk **** all he wants when he plays like he has this year and I have zero problem with it. But this was a classic case of a young upstart team that's already getting a little too full of themselves. Can dish it out but clearly can't take it in return. Dame's previous quote about Hali doing his celebration was pretty poignant:
"As many times as I've done it … when you dish it out, you gotta be willing to take it," Lillard told reporters after Milwaukee's 128-119 loss. "When you're having your moment it's important to be careful. Be humble. You never know when the tables turn."

Congrats on a great W. I said in the pregame thread I thought it would be over by half and I was just a smidge early in my prediction. Thought the Bucks would be on a mission and they were. They were out to prove a point especially Giannis and Portis. It felt like a playoff series game. To be honest, we have been really average to bad for a long time. It is nice to be relevant enough for a contender like Milwaukee to care you are coming to town and want to send a message. We haven't had that since the West/PG years.
On the after the game stuff. Really silly by both sides. If you are the Pacers why would you want to tug on Superman's cape? On the flip side it seemed like an over reaction. Something the coaches/staffs should have worked out off the floor. Way more silly by the Pacers IMO.

Well it is just a ball, but running into a locker room is reckless. There are ways escalating the situation without escalating in a way that could start a fight/suspensions. Have team officials go talk to the other coaches which they most likely would have given it back**** and if that doesn't work, call them out publicly.
****Before the whole "we have audio of them refusing to give the ball back" Yeah Giannis ran into the tunnel like a lunatic screaming for it. Kind of an expected response that they would be stubborn at that point. No one was acting rationale

I mean was that a hard foul? I guess. He had him wrapped up and was trying to hold him up. Maybe I am a little too old school I thought that was a nothing, if that was game one of the season series they probably dap it up after that play. To show I'm unbiased I thought Giannis did nothing wrong on his T. Halli did the DameTime thing and was talking some s*** after that dunk.... Giannis had every right in the world to give him a little forearm shiver, it was deserved. I know times change and I probably should too, but those plays that happened are good for basketball and creating rivalries.

Just get out. Giannis is one of the most passionate, hard working players in the league. He puts EVERYTHING into the game. And did an accomplishment very few will ever do. That ball meant a ****-ton to him. I'd have reacted the exact same.Re: PG Pacers - Giannis Giannis Giannis!

Re: PG Pacers - Giannis Giannis Giannis!
Yes it was, he just jumped on his back and essentially tackled him while making no real attempt at the ball or to actually play basketball. In todays NBA yes that was past the normal take/intentional foul. I don't think the guy meant anything dirty, he just has it in his head to foul giannis since he's a bad FT shooter and to not let him and1, he overdid a bit. Take the flagrant and move on, no big deal

On the Giannis reaction front, it wasn’t about the 64 points or the career high, it’s about breaking the franchise record that he’s been chasing for 11 seasons. That sort of thing is about legacy.
If he breaks the franchise record again, it won’t mean as much because it’s already his. This was the one.

Constantly disrespected. No way in hell Indiana does that if LeBron puts up the exact same game.
Carlisle wouldn't dare in that scenario, he wants to keep working in Lebron's league going forward
I'd even argue that if Dame put up 64 points he would have the game ball no problem also. Players / league clearly have a thing with Giannis being a foreigner.

I absolutely agree he puts everything into the game. I love everything about him. The first point is he should have never been in that position period. The Pacers were wrong. I have no problem with his initial reaction. Here is where he was wrong. I played college sports. You never go into the opposing tunnel/locker room. At the point you have security, coaches, front office, etc handle the situation. That's when bad things happen. It is possible to be wronged and be upset and make an incorrect decision. It doesn't make him a bad person or take away from his game.

Plus it felt like Carlisle trying to pull one over on the Bucks by yanking his starters with 6 minutes left. Thats an eternity. Props to Griffin for not falling for it. I know he had to bring the guys back in anyway but still.
Maybe... I don't think so. I think it was more they were down 22, had zero chance of getting stops to get back in the game. They are in the middle of playing 6 games in 10 days away from home including a back to back this weekend. I think it was a white flag we can't come back and I can get these guys some rest. Possible there was more to it, we'll never know but that was my reaction live.

Re: PG Pacers - Giannis Giannis Giannis!
As someone who kinda enjoys people being petty about this kinda stuff I thought what the Pacers did was funny. I'm also not remotely sentimental and so I wouldn't have reacted anywhere near how Giannis did, but I also understand I'm an anomaly in that respect and most people, at least those that enjoy their jobs, keep professional mementos.
As for the game itself, I think you saw that there's levels to this. Indiana is a good young team that'll be a tough out come playoff time. But they're not a title contender. The Bucks scoring 107 points out of points in the paint and the FT line shows a gaping weakness that teams will exploit over and over and over.

Yeah I don't know either. Just felt early and bait-y. Either way, Griffin did the right thing.

Just make the ball like the axe University of Minnesota and University of Wisconsin play for every game until Giannis retires.
