I mean, you want to avoid the low BBIQ guys as much as possible, but Oubre has thrived here (other than "getting hit by a car").

Ainge is usually ridiculous, but if they would take Tobi and a handful of 2nds for Collins and Olynyk? That is something that could be very helpful.

If Ainge said yes to that, it would be the clearest signal that Collins is a toxic asset.

There is just no way Morey is that short-sighted as a GM. Lavine isn't even a Morey type of player. We just escaped both James Harden and PJ Tucker and came out of it somehow better off. Trading for Lavine would put us right back in to cap hell again with no future.

Exactly. And that "no future" would be defined as second round exits for as long as Embiid remained here, and then a quick descent back to Lottery Hell. In short - a trade for Lavine brings The Process to a most pathetic conclusion.

Y'all may remember that I defended the idea of trading Harden for Lavine way back before Zach's injury troubles and mediocre play this season, IF the Clippers refused to give up a semi-decent return for Harden. I reasoned that the Sixers could still get some kind of defensive wing support and that Lavine could play with PatBev, and Maxey playing with Melton or another, bigger defensive 2. But somehow Kelly Oubre was available for the minimum, and he's been about as good offensively as Lavine, and without a $40+M multi-contract. Anyone rumoring Lavine to the Sixers must have forgotten about Oubre.

Lavine playing at full capacity isn't necessarily an albatross to all teams. His contract will get less onerous as max numbers keep going up. But at this point, with Lavine playing not well or not at all (because of injury), it's silly to regard him as a trade asset. To be honest I don't know why the Bulls would be trying to trade him at his lowest value ever, unless they know even worse things about his health prospects than the rest of us do.

I'm going to admit that the stress of Harden combined with the actual wait had me ready to sign off on a Harden/Lavine swap too. I have no problem admitting that. The reason is that I was desperate for us to get rid of him. We dodged a big-time bullet getting rid of him and Tucker, and I give halla props to Morey for keeping calm and patient through all of it.

We've been lucky with Oubre so far. I like what he's done for us and I hope he can keep it going. Rather than adding another star player to mix, I'm more inclined to add a second/third option instead. I think if we can build a bullet proof 9 man rotation that can all perform in the playoffs, then that would be better than gambling on Zach Lavine in my opinion. But to set the record straight there was a brief moment where I would have be in favor of trading Harden for Lavine, but only because I wanted to get rid of Harden at all costs, and I'm so glad that we did.

I mean they traded 1 whole 2nd round pick and Rudy Gay for Collins in the 1st place…a “handful” of 2nd’s is a come up lol. But yeah the fact that he was traded for so little to begin with and is now on the block for seemingly the only team that wanted him is a really bad sign.

So who around is a longer term Batum replacement? Does batum have anything left in the tank for a stopgap another year contract? Anyone fit the mold around the league that we could grab?

I think it’s because Collins wants usage. And I’d rather have Siakam than Collins. Atleast Siakam is a willing passer and can be relied upon to create when Biid is not playing or isn’t 100%.

6’8” 3&D guy with good IQ? Maybe Cam Johnson? DFS?

Those guys would be very expensive. And eventually they’d want more usage despite their limited offensive capabilities.

I’d rather luck into one than try to trade for one. The later would require a lot of asset and would still leave us a big hole on the team.

Would Cam Johnson even be available? I doubt the Nets are even thinking about moving him.

I think Cam is more available than Bridges is. That might not be saying much, though.

Honestly, it's hard to find a guy that does everything he does at the level he does as a role player.

Quick trigger, quick decision, long forward that's a plus defender?

I mean, Mikal Bridges and Paul George, sure. Those are the star level versions, but I don't know how we acquire them.

Kyle Anderson is kinda similar minus the shooting aspect. Bojan is a better offensive, but worse defensive version. Cam Johnson is interesting, but don't know how available he is. Santi Aldama?

I don't think Collins helps more than Tobias with the current roster build, and even though I don't like the cap space idea, wouldn't want to have him eat into that.

Pacers should trade for him. He'd be a great fit as a Toppin upgrade. Basically just fills the same offensive role while being a defensive upgrade.

Haven't watched very much of him at all. I do remember Memphis fans on the trade board talking about him breaking out to a star level player

Stats wise, it looks like he's gotten some expanded burn and has been gunning it up inefficiently. Of course, that team is a dumpster fire right now until Ja gets back and they all straighten out and get back to regular roles.

I don't think replacing Batum will be very easy. But it is definitely something Morey should be thinking about, because apparently dude has his sights set on retirement at the end of the year.

Would there be any interest in Keldon Johnson? Should there be? He would cost a lot I imagine. I've never been able to figure out his position in the NBA. Is he a fit here?

Tobias and Reed for Bogdanovic, Hayes, and Wiseman.

Turn Tobias into a true C&S guy who drains them at an excellent rate, a bigger guard to play with Maxey who can ball handle and defend, and an expiring third string C. Gain some more potential cap space with Reed's deal gone, get under the tax for this year, and keep all the picks.

Not a fan of trading for 3&D wings, if you think about it they are very expensive to trade for. It’s better to just be lucked into getting one by player dev, draft, minimum contracts or salary fillers.

Trading for 3&D wings only makes sense if you have already figured out the other holes on your team.

Another problem is these type of 3&D wings demands higher usage, for they’re looking to get 30-40M per year on their next paycheck.

I agree. It's problematic trading for them because they cost as much as superstar players do. It's better to homegrow them if you can. In fact, in this next draft, I think our primary focus should be finding a player at the wing position, grooming them, giving them minutes, and hopefully have them become a mainstay at the position. 3&D are valued the same way an offensive tackle in football valued. These guys will never win MVP awards, but they provide so much stability and reliability.

The injuries are piling up in Cleveland. Garland has a fractured jaw and Evan Mobley is going for knee surgery. Both could come back and play again this season, but that will depend on how well Cleveland stays afloat without them. A lot of their fanbase is ready to trade Mitchell and tank the season away for a high draft pick. If they do go that route, do we become players for Donovan Mitchell?

Some obvious points;
-He's not the best fit with Maxey as he's a bit undersized for a 2-guard. Then again we're already playing Melton in that spot.

-We'd be committed to his salary over the next few years which some would hate.

- There's also an argument to be made that Mitchell would take away from Maxey the same way he has with Darius Garland. I personally think Garland is on the same level as Trae Young once he gets full control of that Cavs offense. Mitchell and Garland have overlapped at times and it could happen here with Maxey as well. Still, It's Donovan Mitchell and we've all seen what he can do when he gets on a heater.

I'd be interested. I just don't think we'd be able to put the top offer on the table.

Keldon Johnson is 6"5 with a wingspan of 6'9.25".

You're right his position is a tweener, but he could be a useful piece as he can score, run the floor well, and play defense with a 36% 3 point percentage.

Does this get it done? Is it worth it?

Sixers: Johnson (4y @ 20M), McDermott(expiring)
Spurs: 26 Rd1, 29 Rd 1, Morris, Furkan, House, Martin, Springer

Maxey Beverly
Johnson Melton
Harris Oubre McDermott
Batum Covington
Embiid Reed Bamba
