Re: NBA MVP Discussion Thread 2023-24 (continued)
Mousa Dagher, the ref that ejected Jokic for a cuss word I've heard other NBA officials say actually reffed a game the next night. In that game the next night (yesterday) that Mousa Dagher was a ref in, Gannis got 32 free throw attempts. Jokic has a grand total of 34 free throw attempts in 6 games this month. Jokic is #1 in FGM in the paint, #4 in 2-point FG attempts and #8 in FG attempts total. Yet he is #19 at shooting free throw attempts.
Jokic 5x MVP train

One night? hes scored over 50 twice this year, and has been throwing up huge numbers the last month.

This has to stop. Bucks have been a .500 team without Giannis for multiple seasons. At least 4
It’s beyond a joke now

Re: NBA MVP Discussion Thread 2023-24 (continued)
Luka just kills teams night after night. No Kyrie. Doesn't matter. Teams double and hard trap. Doesn't matter.
I'm sure he'll get bored and start drinking beer or whatever but this is ridiculous. Wolves are actually good defensively, only they're not - they're total crap because Luka decided to eviscerate them.
Edit: did I jinx just this game or his entire MVP campaign?

Embiid is the MVP as of now, he is first in scoring once again at a ridiculous 33.8ppg he is 1st in PER at a ridiculous NBA record 33.7 he is also 1st in WS/48 at .303 not to mention he has win % of .800 which is absolutely ridiculous as well. In the games he’s played the Sixers are 16-4 which is equivalent to a 66 win season. He is having an even better season than last season.

He's in the conversation, but I can't give Embiid too much credit for running up his numbers against Detroit and Washington and then sitting against the top teams on the road.

Both SGA (43/9/6 + 2 steals) and Fox (41/7/3 + 2 steals) with big time games. Sabonis the difference and the Kings get a good win. If Sac can climb to a high seeding then Fox should also be getting talked about as a top 5 candidate as a dominant 2 way guard.

He’s been uncharacteristically sloppy and a bit off.
It’s almost like he realises he can sort of coast out there and the team is still going to win a lot of games.
Don’t get the vibe he cares a lot currently about the MVP either with how the last two seasons have ended.

He comes across as an overthinker. I feel like it curtails his killer instinct just a little and makes it harder to get in to a flow state. This year I think it has him consciously trying to make sure he doesn't dominate the ball since his cast is so talented.

Does "even better" mean that he might actually deserve the MVP this season? One of the biggest heist in NBA MVP history.

Giannis Embiid Jokic Luka
Everyone else
And honestly if I had to pick a 5th it’d be the Canadian SGA out of anyone.
Very sad state of affairs for American basketball. Lowest we’ve ever been.

It’s Jokic on advanced stats - and being the best player on earth by a wide margin
It’s Embiid on counting stats
It’s Giannis as the second best player on earth
And then it’s everyone else - fox was the best of the rest tonight - better than Luka and he beat SGA head up.
The 4th spot is on rotation - tonight it’s Fox -

Re: NBA MVP Discussion Thread 2023-24 (continued)
You can say all you want about the others, but Embiid has sat out the 4th quarter for a 1/3rd of the games this season because they have been so dominant. He could have stayed longer and padded stats, but he's content letting the rest of the team finish them off. All the while averaging better numbers overall than his MVP season in less minutes.

Doncic has been getting doubled around 150 times this season. Next is Cunningham with 61...
He is going to give you 50+ if you play him single coverage right now.
Best offensive player in the game and his defense this year is really solid.

He’s the best player except for 6 other guys and he plays for maybe the 9th best team in the West. I’m sure he’s gonna get voted MVP.
