It takes months if not years of CBT to really see improvements and it requires being vulnerable and open and for lack of a better term vibing with your therapist.

actually the emotional leader is rarely the main star.

Personally i think this behavior has always been apart of his character but winning sort of kept the outbursts at bay to a degree. The guy is never remorseful or apologetic (his apology to NUrkic was a joke) for his actions. He also seems to only have these outbursts against players who will not retaliate.

Thinking about it, the whole "he needs help" approach could destroy whatever is left of him as a player. It's an acknowledgement that his antics all these years are a serious problem, something he (and his organization) have always brushed off. And he'd always come back as the same, unbridled Draymond.

Now he'll be on a short lease, under a microscope. The first misstep won't be just another in a string of incidents. "Well, he isn't fixed" will be the reaction, likely followed by another indefinite suspension.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

My take on it is...maybe he's just kind of a POS.

Joe Dumars is right - Green has a problem. I still believe he should be held accountable and punished for what he does, but he needs help. If he was simply kicked out of the league, I think he would then assault people in the general public. Punish him, but do what it takes to get him to stop this behavior.

Draymond Green is expected to return to the Golden State Warriors in the coming days as he nears a return from his indefinite suspension.

Green was suspended indefinitely by the NBA on December 13th since he struck Jusuf Nurkic shortly after his return from his suspension following his choking of Rudy Gobert.

Green will miss his 11th game on Thursday and while there is still no return date set, his return is getting closer.

Green has been participating in individual counseling sessions and periodic virtual meetings that include team, league and union officials designed to chart his progress toward reinstatement.

I'll be shocked if he isn't on a podcast within a week of returning, laughing about it all with zero repentance or remorse.

10 games is way too high.

If the line was set at 4 I may take the under.

No one can make Draymond stop acting this way at this point except for him. If he does something like this on the street then he gets to face the consequences of the court system. Have Kerr and the league done him no favors in the long term by coddling him so much? Yes but Dray is a guy who's felt enabled to act the way he does for a very long time and its up to him to learn to act like a responsible person in how he conducts himself on a court or anywhere else.

Probably shouldn't laugh because of how close to the truth this is, but... sigh...

Do people really not see Draymond as an "actual person"?

The hyperbole and hate directed toward Draymond has gotten so out of control. It's like going to a Trump rally...

First off, using this thread to take a shot at people with different political views than you seems like a self-gratifying attack .. which is particularly ironic in a discussion of Draymond Green.

Perhaps “actual person” was a bit hyperbolic on my part. I saw his behavior. I saw his choices. I saw a player who was actively trying to hurt other people. I saw a player who had no remorse, and wouldn’t apologize. I saw a player who had repeated this same course of action multiple times. I saw someone who could end another player’s career. When someone chooses those actions, I had a hard time thinking “poor Draymond - I bet he’s struggling with something.” Maybe I should have. So I appreciated hearing Joe Dumars words - it helped me see the issue from another side.

+1000
It's pretty pathetic to just about everyone else but the person who constantly finds ways to shove these political jabs whenever in random unrelated context/places.

Like dude, we get it, and we don't give a f about ur political view.

He actually hasn't pod'd since the off-season. My guess is that the new contract he signed was contingent on him not continuing with it, at least during the regular season. Which sucks because it really was one of the better ones out available.

I really wonder what the plan the Warriors' plan is for him because I just took a look and both Saric and Looney have had their minutes reduced with his absence and the emergence of Trayce and continued development of Kuminga has really made him expendable. 6-4 sounds nice but 3 of those wins were against bottom feeders in Portland x2 and Washington.

His value is at his lowest and I don't even see a good fit currently where he'd push another team over the top. Philly would be interesting to form a ridiculous defensive front court and utilize a lot of the same actions with a two man game w/ Maxey but then thats taking the ball out of their hands.
