Kai really **** up. He would have been getting minutes.... I mean, he'd be awful, but he'd be playing.

Feels like if our 5 injured guys were healthy they would smoke our current starting 5.

He's just been incredibly bad. Mensah looked bad tonight but 7 plus rebounds, played hard and first assignment one of the biggest and strongest men on the planet in Val? He gets a mulligan and then some.

I only watched the 2nd half but didn’t mind Mensahs minutes. Scrappy on the boards and loved the charge he drew.

He would've had the best opportunity of his career to see if he can develop and belong in this league or not. Such a shame. I think he would've been better than Thor so likely getting decent mins even if we were healthy.

Without question. There's not a single skill he brings to the table in an NBA game that's a positive except he "looks" like he should be there when they're all standing still since he's 6'11". He's also the skinniest 6'11" player in the NBA, slow to read, slow to react, out of position every single play on both ends, doesn't finish at the rim, doesn't really get to the rim, has no handles, cannot pass, cannot shoot except for the occasional 29% corner 3, no mid range, doesn't rebound and despite being as tall as he is cannot block. He should be playing in the g league or Europe and absolutely came out of school way too soon.

Thor has been very disappointing, He's just another player who doesn't know how to play basketball.

Re: Hornets Lineup Talk
I've never had a problem with Mitch taking swings on these long athletic types like Thor that don't quite know how to play basketball yet but have all of the physical attributes teams are looking for. The problem with Mitch isJDR720 wrote:Thor has been very disappointing, He's just another player who doesn't know how to play basketball.
- he doesn't seem to know when to cut his losses on his projects and move on to the next guy
- he filled the roster with 50% projects who were nowhere near closed ready to play.
Bouk, Kai and Thor all should have been cut or traded over the summer to make room for FOUR more rookies drafted. On top of Mark and Bryce from 2022. That's 9 players that are either rookies, projects or just learning to be solid. Only two of those 9 are worthy of being in a rotation. That left nnaji overseas, kai cut (not because Mitch was clearing space for a vet), leaving 5 useless projects + Theo. 6 players who aren't nba rotation ready or capable. That's bonkers.
He was scared to make tough decisions and simply opted for the wait and see approach at the expense of a functioning nba roster.
It's fine to collect a bunch of projects to take stabs at finding difference makers in various parts of the draft, but you can't just stockpile all of them on your roster for years.

Re: Hornets Lineup Talk
And all that was after we traded #13 because we supposedly had too many young players.
Nothing Mitch has done over the past couple years makes sense. He's just waiting to be fired or to retire. In addition to using being a small market as an excuse to not be aggressive.

The other major flaw in this approach is that you're reducing the chance one of those projects has to pop off because they're surrounded by other projects.

He isn't good, I have been out on him for a while. However, he is especially bad when we are missing our top scorers. He is the type of guy that you can steal 10-15 mins in a game with if you don't need anything offensively... but right now we need guys that can play offense and him along with 1-2 other bad offensive players is just not even close to feasible.

Re: Hornets Lineup Talk
Also if we are not going to play Boukdud even in this injury crisis why don't we cut him and sign someone like Nerlens Noel (or literally anybody lol) to a min or partially guaranteed contract?
He sucks, he has no future here, he probably doesn't want to be here either. Why waste a roster spot? It's in everyone's best interest.
Are we that cheap?
I think I just answered my own question.

Re: Hornets Lineup Talk
are we only keeping bouk around for his salary slot in a potential trade? theo was more useful player. the fact that bouk still can't crack rotation with 10 guys out means he's pointless from a player, on court, perspective in cliff's eyes. he's firmly behind terry, miller, nick jr and bryce in our off-guard rotation. would be behind cody and frank as well, if the were healthy.
he's just trade filler now, right? 4.5 mil expiring? like, it would be crazy if we just kept him on roster all year, right? either use him in trade or cut him and sign a potentially more useful player to min deal.

Well it was cheaper to cut Theo and sign a 2 way guy then it was to cut Bouk, elevate Theo and then sign a new 2way guy.
But yes, you can't trade 2 way guys, so Bouk actually is a decent trade filler guy.

Re: Hornets Lineup Talk
Bouk being trade filler salary is the only realistic thing that makes sense right now. They'd probably re-sign Gelo and play him ahead of Bouk at this point. He's officially moved into worse than Monk status in the orgs eyes IMO. Which is as bad as it gets.
P.S. I'm still more pissed we let Monk walk for league minimum and used a pick promptly after on Bouknight. That move alone set us back in a big way. They refused to acknowledge Monk finally matured that last season he was here and based their choice on the prior 3 seasons instead.

Yeah get ready for round 2 with Bridges. We are going to let him walk and he will average 18+ for a contender.
