I ask because the Eagles defense is near the bottom of the league in a few categories.

Desai is another Fangio disciple. The scheme seems to be a bigger problem around the league. As teams have caught on.

I still prefer him over Gannon.

But I also would've liked to have seen Dennard Wilson promoted to DC. The Ravens passing defense is top in the league.

I think in general the issue is more about personnel

The eagles have had a revolving door at nickel and at safety next to Blankenship who’s also missed time himself

Also in the offseason I was a bit concerned with bringing back slay AND bradberry. I think it’s fine to have one older guy. But having 2 older guys at a mainly athletic based position was dangerous. Fangios system relies a lot on closing speed. The eagles just don’t have that in the secondary. If you’re going to run it you need guys with length who can close gaps quickly and shut off lanes

The eagles have guys who if they don’t read the play early enough there’s no hope, pitch and catch

Desai has actually been fine. As an eagles fan the real concern for me is the offense. The defense is such a secondary concern. Regardless of what the stats may say I’ve seen the eagles offense fail to have the lead in like 5 straight games

2 scoring drives against San Fran only 2 FGs. In the red zone twice. Could’ve been up 14-0 instead 6-0. While you could say well it’s the niners. The eagles have a lot of money on the offense. With that line and those WRs and that QB they should be amongst league leaders in red zone.

And then the cowboys. Down 7-0, moving the ball, turnover. Moving the ball again, FG.

The offense is 100% the issue. Too much talent/money to not be scoring in those circumstances. Especially when that’s where the bulk of the youth is and the guys that’ll be the core of the team moving forward

I genuinely don’t think it would’ve mattered with the 2 CBs we have. The mistake was prioritizing leaders and good players over guys who were younger and up and coming. Eagles should’ve thrown bigger money at CJGJ and edwards. Let one of slay or bradberry walk. They’re still good, but they’re diminishing returns. The eagles look slower on defense than other teams

I think part of the issue is also the eagles offense not sustaining drives, especially in recent games. This is something that keeps your defense on the field and makes them much more tired. There’s a lot of issues but desai isn’t one of the main guys I’d be pointing fingers at right now.

Rip Philly.

Looks like we could be treated to a Mariota vs. Lock MNF special.

I think geno is probably gonna play, but there’s a lotta eagles that are gonna be out including possibly Jalen hurts.

Yeah but hasn’t he practiced all week? This illness for Jalen came on all of a sudden within the last couple days. He shouldn’t have made out with Micah parsons last week, that’s probably who got him sick.

I honestly have no idea but I wouldn’t be surprised. Latest I heard is today he’s worse than he was feeling yesterday but he’s still gonna travel to Seattle in a different airplane so he doesn’t get teammates sick and hopes to still play.

So jay glazer said desai was moved out from DC

Rappaport said desai is moving to the booth and is relaying play calls to Patricia who’s then relaying them to the green dot

Did rapoport really say that? That makes no sense. If they just wanted desai in the booth, why can’t they just have him call in the plays from the booth like Quinn does for the cowboys? Also, telling somebody else the play and then them telling the green dot the play and then the green dot telling the rest of the defense the play sounds like it might take a little more time than necessary. Seems like a clusterfu#k

Jalen? I don’t know, we will see. I think if it’s up to him he will play but I also wonder if the higher ups don’t want to risk him getting teammates in the huddle sick

I think rapoport was just given the eagles scoop which is probably a nice in season demotion story versus the glazer story which is probably the truth

None of this is a good sign lol but I guess we’ll have to wait and see how it actually plays out. Their 10-3 so I’m not going to give up

It’s odd. It’s not really a lurie/roseman move to do things mid season. I wonder if desai wasn’t giving good answers to the “how we going to fix this” questions

I will say on a conspiracy level. Bringing in Patricia as a consultant was always strange. They did it the moment they hired desai. So to me that says that desai was always a risky hire in their eyes. Young guy that they were looking to develop. I don’t know why else you’d bring in Patricia who you move onto. It’s almost like he was brought in as a contingency plan

That’s fair

I also just don’t know what he has. I mean it’d be crazy for him to miss with a flu

Sounds like Lurie meddling to me.
