He shoots the three. And he's hit some too.

28% coming in to tonight's game and 0-3 tonight. And sucks at everything else. He shouldn't see the floor.

I’m not sure either. Maybe to try to add him as a filler for a trade?

I'd 100% rather have Diallo than Livers. We actually could use some bench energy that Diallo often brought for us... not that we can afford to have another non shooter in the lineup but Livers has really had one or two ok games and is usually a nothing most nights.

We don't need Diallo either. We need an actual 3&D wing. There are zero on this roster. Diallo brings energy but he's another guy that doesn't defend or shoot, which unfortunately has him out of the league.
It's crazy that there isn't a player on this roster that is even an average defender that can hit open 3's at a solid clip. Sasser is the closest and he doesn't really play.

Re: Livers

Re: Livers
Livers had a lot of 3 and D potential. Not only has he not realized that potential, he seems to have regressed.

Re: Livers
He's currently shooting 25% on 4 attempts a game. Can't rebound. Mediocre defender at best. He's declared himself a bust and he won't be on our (or presumably anyone else's) roster next season.

Yeah he's not NBA material. He was very promising as a rookie.

He’s just like half our roster - fringe NBA player.

Re: Livers
Diallo brings NBA talent, just in a weird package.
Livers does not have an NBA level skill to be found. He can do a few things at below replacement level: shoot the 3, pass, rebound, defend. All of them below average.
Again, the number of guys who either never had any talent or never developed under Weaver is astounding because this is the environment that most teams cant afford. Just play guys, give them shots and see what they have. 95% of the time the guys fall flat on their faces.
Before guys like Bruce Brown, Svi, C.Wood, at least some diamonds in the rough were found.
I'm looking at the roster and I cant think of anyone that got better.
Cade still looking like rookie season, flashes of extreme talent, lack of concern for the ball/effort. Ivey looks way worse than last year at his best. Hayes, Bey, Stewart, S.Lee. Its so bad its funny now. Where are the Weaver supporters now?

Re: Livers
I wish we would have re-signed Diallo, but Weaver says he wants defensive minded guys first, and then not only goes after guys who suck on defense, but will re-sign them, too. He'll draft them happily as well.
Livers is mediocre. If he's injured again, he shouldn't be able to crack the rotation so easily, but he is better than Knox. Consistency is what separates most players. The last 20-25 games of the season is when the bad teams' players go for their numbers, but it means nothing. Someone mentioned C-Wood, and he was one of those players in NO. But he barely made our team, just edging Joe Johnson, which we all wanted, especially after his Summer League, but he's never going to stay with a team. Immaturity and lack of defensive positioning.

Hi all
The following quote from Troy Weaver shows you how delusional and out of his depth Weaver truly is when it comes to roster building. He has been too late when it comes to cutting his loses and bad draft picks.
Its been 4 years of nothing due to this kind of delusional thinking from our first time GM Troy Weaver
Troy Weaver: "People don’t talk about this, but a guy who I consider a core member for us, who has been out and is not talked about enough, is Isaiah Livers. His absence has been profound. Getting him back healthy has been great. Now, it’s time for him to stay healthy, to have the kind of season and growth that Killian, Isaiah (Stewart) and these other guys have had. He’s a big part of our future and what we’re trying to do."

Wow, that’s rough. I’ve been a Troy Weaver apologist but to act like Livers is anymore than a role player is delusional.
If he’s what your team is relying on to move the needle, you’re in big trouble.

Re: Livers
@greekalex - and thats been to problem
Weaver has been all in on his picks like Livers / Killian / Stewart to turn into stars when they're nothing more than back-up and role players at best. Every other NBA teams sees it but Troy. He thinks that by giving them a heap of playing time is going to turn them into stars when its just gotten them worse by being thrown to the wolves when they're clearly out-classed and not good enough to be NBA starters.
That said - Weaver wouldn't be the last GM totally overvaluing his draft picks, the trick is to know when you've messed up and cut bait while they still have value!
Taking the rose colours glasses off, this rebuild has failed. Its time to clean house and only keep Cade, Duren, Ivey (maybe Ausar, if he isn't just a better version of Diallo.
Put solid NBA starting calibre veterans around these kids and teach them how to win. I'd even trade of Chris Paul or Westbrook as elite locker room teachers for these kids.

Re: Livers
Yeah, the only team that would consider a guy like Livers as a core member is a team that is not up to NBA standard. Which is actually us, so it fits I guess.
