Now that it appears possible, I can’t help but like the DeRozan thing. Too bad it is so late.
Brunson
DD
DeRozan
Randle
Mitch
is okay. Only one major trade away, I’d say. We‘d have enough to go after KAT, Embiid etc using either Randle or RJ along with Mitch and IQ.

It is getting a big 3-D wing---more than ever. Why?
1)We don't have one currently and it would allow us to possibly pose a much bigger threat to those contending teams with big wings (Celtics, Bucks, Clippers etc.).
2)We could take a final look at how RJ looks at the 2 and see whether he is more suited at that position where he can use his strength to overpower smaller guards.
3)It sets up a possible DM trade perfectly. We need a big 3 and D guy even more if we go with Brunson-DM longterm.
Dorian Finney Smith may be a possibility.
This makes a lot of sense.... maybe IQ will be used to bring back a guy like Tre Murphy, Herb Jones, or OG but I don't see those guys being available to us. Let's see...

Changed the last lineup because I forgot about DeRozan somehow.

Re: 2023-24 NY Knicks trade ideas
Keep Quickley and Hartenstein.
Trade RJ and 1-2 picks for OG.
Bring Mitch off the bench.
9 man Rotation:
Brunson / Donte
Quickley / Grimes
OG / Hart
Randle
Hartenstein / Mitch
This is a good 9 man rotation. Still could use another wing/forward though.
Quickley gets staggered to run with the bench, like RJ does now, but hed be starting and should be happy about that. Quick should be our 3rd option and not RJ. Wed be morons to let Quick go while keeping RJ, Grimes, Hart, etc.
Put Mitch on the market to see what we can get for him. The dude misses too many games and hasn’t improved much. Time to move on and develop Hartenstein. If Mitch is okay coming off the bench here then he can stay.
OG is a longshot, but as long as hes still up in the air he’ll be showing up in everyone’s proposals. Hes got holes but makes way too much sense for us.

I wouldn't mind this although it shouldn't take more than RJ + one protected pick to get it done for OG... perhaps NYK and TOR can make this trade as part of a larger settlement agreement between the teams to squash the lawsuit at the same time.

I just disagree that the Raps would settle for RJ and 1 protected pick for OG. Lawsuit or not. I know Masai is ridiculous with his asking price, but Im sure other teams could beat that. Wed have to include 2-3 picks most likely, depending on protection.
I dont value RJ all that much though. Hes back to being his uninspiring mid self again after his hot start. Hes not a great shooter, defender, or playmaker and he has mediocre size/athleticism. His only real skill is being able to shoot a lot to score inefficiently, so ideally best for a 6th man role.
OG is flawed but he is an elite, long, and versatile defender who can score 15+ ppg and make threes at 38%. Every team wants that.
Trading RJ for a 3/D guy like OG, Herb Jones, etc would allow us to start Quickley also.

Is Brunson, IQ, OG (or Murphy), Randle, and iHart a contending team or a tier below Boston/Denver? Bench of Hart, DDV, Mitch Rob isn't bad, either. Worth a shot... but something tells me we go for Spida this deadline/off-season instead...

If Quickley and Hartenstein can take some small leaps I think thats a very strong team. Obviously still lacks that true #1 superstar, but we’re not going to be able to get one of those it seems. Brunson is close though.
Mitchell and Brunson together will not get us far. Im not backing off from that opinion. The Cavs arent doing all that hot with Garland and Mitchell, and the Jazz couldn’t get far with Gobert and Mitchell. Hes a very good player but just seems like we’re putting a cap on the team. Cant be small and have 2-3 bad defenders in a contending starting lineup.
Id want to see what Quickley can do as a starter first, without RJ. IQ and OG would be the ideal pair in between Brunson and Randle, since Quick can guard the best guard while OG can guard the best forward/wing, with Hartenstein holding the paint down inside. Its a well rounded lineup, especially if iHart can start hitting jumpers more.

How do we convince Toronto to engage in a fair trade with us while we're suing them?? Or, how do we prevent the asking price from being quadrupled just because it's us??

Oh no, this is adults acting like a business. Think like your health insurance preferred networks...
I just don't get how it really works. I mean, my agent works for me and their job would be to get me the most/best deal based on my criteria. Cutting off half the league at any given time is just spiteful to myself...
If it were not for that lawsuit OG would be here already.
I'm actually not convinced about that. It's only intuition but I believe the Knicks likely gauged beforehand what the odds of being able to complete a trade for OG are....I think they only proceeded with the lawsuit after they determined that there is no chance at OG. I think they'd OG over that lawsuit any day of the week.....
But it is kind of annoying to think about how many opportunities are blocked right now....Leon was brought in to bring in stars but it seems with his presence here, half the players are blocked from coming to the Knicks....I don't like the dynamic
Dolan is pretty vindictive. He would go hell hath no fury for sure.

You're probably right... other than OG, Tre Murphy, and Herb Jones what other 3&D wing can be potentially obtained that would fit that role? Deni Avdija... Miles Bridges... D Finney Smith... Hunter or Saddiq Bay?

Thats the issue obviously. Great 3/D wings and forwards are rare and dont get moved usually.
If we cant swing something for OG or Jones/Murphy from New Orleans, and cant find any other diamonds in the rough (Deni or Hunter are interesting), then the best bet would be in the draft. We could have drafted Jalen Williams or Tari Eason last year for example, but we traded out to get Brunson. Either of those guys would fit perfectly here, but now they arent being traded. We have to value the draft more and actually use picks. Cheap young role players are found there.
