Anyone we add midseason better be someone Joe is gonna use in his rotation for sure and can help us win now (like when we traded for DWhite). Otherwise, it’s just a huge waste.

I think we add someone who fits the Grant TPE at best and/or a buyout minimum guy.

His fascination rose the day he wanted to F*CK Up Lebron.. and became an instant "tough guy" for that.

I would be willing to give up 4 2nd RD picks for Precious. Possibly for X Tillman. Still would take PJ Tucker if bought out. Ditto Alex Burks and K.O. after that I just see what may even be possible.

If Isaiah Stewart's name didn't lend itself a nickname like Beef Stew nobody would think he's good.

He's an affordable, obtainable, relatively modern big man who is locked in for 4 more years after this one and has a solid floor with upside.

You'll struggle to get teams to part with guys better than him and guys worse than him aren't likely to feature in your playoff rotations. He's this year's Jakob Poetl but locked in longer/cheaper.

Tax is a real consideration as to why not to try and get Stewart, but if ownership are willing to pony up the money, the benefits of adding him to the rotation and locked in for years to come could be significant. Same reason we should have kept Grant Williams: solid roleplayer with some upside, good insurance for our bigs and a decent sized salary slot that we wouldn't be able to create easily in the future. He gives you a lot of options in terms rotations and roster construction.

Bad hands. You see that in guys like Poeltl who's career TOV% is basically his usage. Kornet by the way has TOV% of 8.2 and USG% of 15 for his career.

Wins over the Heat, the Sixers, and the Bucks. They had a good run.

Yeah this makes sense. Team is not going to land a mash-up of 21-22 Al Horford/Rob Williams clone. Plus they need guys who are experienced enough to compete in the playoffs and are sound enough. So I do think he fits that bill - just have to recognize he's a barely average efficiency scorer while being modestly below average in volume, and not a guy who creates his own offense.

But he's also not a total zero there, and can defend post/perimeter, good rebounder and plays hard. Basically the kind of guy one would like to give up pretty modest assets for, but that guy just doesn't exist at $6M for a late first rounder. Plus like you say he's only 22 so he isn't going to learn how to be an above average leaper but maybe his shooting comes on as he goes and that's a slim bit of upside.

But yeah he's the kind of guy you hope to land late in the draft, not give up 3-4 late first/early seconds worth of value and 8 figures for.

I've always liked Stewart because he gives 110% every time, and outplays guys who are more skilled. But I don't see how the Celtics can get him. He's a poison pill player so his value for trading purposes is around 12M. Since he doesn't fit into the trade exception you would have to give up Horford or Prichard and some other pieces

They're not trading Pritchard. And I think they're probably other ways of acquiring Konchar and Tillman and I would welcome them on the team but not at the expense of Pritchard who has a very good year.
Just can't see Steven's dealing PP because I think he really likes him a lot as a player and as a contract.

Yeah actually agree on that one, just throw them a couple seconds if they don't want to move forward with those guys and stick them in the TPE. Keep PP for that level of player.

Don't we get worse shooting and less playmaking in return? I don't like any of these guys nor Stewart, I'd imagine it has to be someone we haven't heard about if there's gonna be a trade at all.

/e - Pritchard is underrated!

Not sure the cba rules but they fit together in grant TPE.

Could we offer grant TPE and some 2nds for both of them?

Is that legal?

When all is said and done by the trading deadline there will be a whole lot of pp flowing around the team...

Yeah you can split the TPE to bring in multiple guys, you just can't add players to the TPE going out to try and match salary for a player making more than the TPE.

Think the Grizz would need a frontcourt player back if they're moving Tillman because they're so thin with Adams out for the season. Or maybe they just resign Lofton Jr. Not sure Tillman would realistically be an upgrade over the likes of Brissett though. He's cheap/young so I wouldn't turn my nose up at the prospect of him but not necessarily trying to pay for the privilege.

Konchar on the other hand they probably have no problem with letting go without taking back a player in return once they're full strength. The Ringer just described him as a poor man's Derrick White which makes him really intriguing to me considering how well Derrick has played when surrounded by top talent. He's having a rough season and signed for 18/3 after this one, so not even sure you've got to pay too much for him.

Think that'd be a solid use of the TPE overall if we're going for depth.
