Even if JT's ankle was bothering him, you're better off actually giving no excuse. I also wish he wouldn't take so many pull up 3s.
Al needed to go up stronger to the rim on a number of occasions and Jrue is still too hesitant about whether to take shots or pass off half the time. I just want him to make decisions without hesitation.
Sam had a bad shooting game but he should never stop shooting, he just needs to find a way to even out his performance at home vs away.
The Warriors always get up for certain games. Ageing stars sometimes need that extra bit of motivation and they love seeing Celtics jerseys.
It really does suck losing to the Warriors, especially as it often seems like it comes in the most BS fashion.
I think Joe has been quite good, I'd have just liked to have seen him have the balls to put in an energy guy late when things weren't working, maybe Brissett, PP or Queta for a minute or so. Better to know what they might bring late now and learn that have no options in the post season.

Never seen a possession sum up why this team goes to water offensively sometimes.
I mean yeah one or two of those shots were good looks but sometimes when you’re struggling you just to put the head down and attack the hoop hard.
Even when Brown finally did he went up soft and missed.
Far too entrenched in this mentality that every three they shoot is a good shot.
This is my axe to grind the rest of the year. Even open threes are not necessarily good. Especially for the Celtics, who are like 18th in the league in three point percentage. And falling.
Yeah if the ball is flying around as a result of attacking the basket I’m fine with them.
But man when we lose tight games so many of the shots are dumb early shot clock pull ups or threes off one pass that aren’t even that open.

Re: Celts Stink Up The Bay, Can't Get the Dub! Loss vs GSW 12/19
Re-watched the final five minutes of regulation. It wasn't our offense that failed us. It was more our defense. Just so disappointing. Too many breakdowns and bad choices. Up 7 with about 4 minutes to go.
1:58 - Jrue overhelping on Curry leads to Thompson three.
3:15 - JB overhelping on Curry in the baseline (he had nowhere to go) leaving CP3 for the straight-line drive.
4:03 - Horford too deep of a drop on Curry high PnR. Like we haven't learned our lesson in the Finals. Splash. Trust the defense behind you. He should've been up on that.
5:19 - Then again on the Thompson handoff from CP3. Horford has to be higher on that. Teammates can cover and rotate if you get blown by. That's a practice shot for Klay.
6:01 - Leave Horford on an island against the best shooter in history. You're just begging for a loss here.
They scored on FIVE STRAIGHT POSSESSIONS. 14 points in just over 2 minutes. Four of them three-balls.
I can't bear to watch OT again. It was just a one-point deficit until we failed to recover the rebound that led to Curry's absurd rainbow three. That's game.

Then there's Tatum. Is there ANYONE on this board who didn't know that he was going to dribble the ball down to 3 and then fire up a contested 3?
I know it's a 3-point league now, but guys like Tommy and other legendary coaches are turning over in their graves watching that final possession. You should only take 3's when down 3 or more in crunch time. You have to go with the highest percentage shot to win games on final shots. The closer you get to the basket, the higher your FG% gets and the better shot you have at winning the game. It's not rocket science. There's been more examples this season where the winning team took a close to the basket shot, and I saw losing teams try and hoist up threes when down by only 1 or 2 points. There needs to be a stat on this. How many times a team has won based on the score and the final shots they attempted (2 or 3). The winning percentage has got to be better with twos than threes.

Curry letting the J’s and Joe know who their daddy is yet again! Ultimate crunch time choke with a 17 pt lead towards the end of the third! Looking like a possible 2-2 west coast trip now. Let’s see how they rebound from this!
Also Live and Die by the three BS is getting old, where the F is Van Gundy at?! This group lacks
That killer instinct when the lights are bright!!!

So much silliness in this thread as expected. Lose one game in OT on the road and that means Curry is the J's daddy, Tatum is soft, Joe can't coach, they shrink up in the clutch, and the Celtics have never proven they can defeat the Warriors. And to think the last time they met the Warriors lost in OT after scoring just 17 in the 4th and Curry shooting 9-25. Oh and with the game tied at the end of 4th, Curry took a three.

We need to get an energetic big to negate players like Jackson-Davies and Kuminga. Al and co are too slow, brissett too short.

On defense, Horford has no problems with the Sixers (Embiid) and Bucks (Giannis). But he struggles against the Heat (Bam) and Warriors (Curry). Hopefully Porzingis can help us with that.

He only struggles vs teams with elite pull up threats. He shut down Bam in the ECF last season.

This. Bam scored 15 a game on bad efficiency on those shaky midrange prayers.

Shots just didn't fall for the Jays in the clutch.
Learning experience for both Jays.
Learning experience? Dudes are no longer 21. They have played this same exact game multiple times in higher stakes basketball like the ECF and the actual NBA finals. There is nothing they haven’t seen, there is nothing they can still really learn. At this point you either can get it done or you can’t. They crumble up pretty hard in these types of games and it’s concerning when the coach feels like they still have to figure it out on the fly. If Joe takes a timeout at the end and gives the ball to Jrue or White we probably win that game.
As good as this team is, they still show the same issues that had them falling short in the last 4 years. This season we have blown games watching Haliburton, Edwards and Curry go mental in the end while our stars did nothing. Lillard would have done the same if there was another 20 seconds in that game.
Again, everybody has a different learning curve.
It took Lebron 9 seasons to win his first ring.
KD needed 10 seasons and Steph to get his first championship.
Apparently the Jays are slow learners, just like Lebron and KD.

So if this is the case, why do we keep putting him in a position where he has to guard them?

It's more of GSW forcing the Cs to put him in a position to guard them.
Who would you put out there?
Sam?
PP?

No, I don't mean replace him. Stash him in a corner. Pre-switch just so he's away from the play. Other teams do it. We've done it in past seasons. We have guards who can fight through screens and chase. Try something else other than Horford on a drop or in an island.

Let's see how the Cs respond after this loss.
Last season the Cs went 1-4 after losing to GSW on the road.

Because they run sets with screens and DHOs that force a switch. The same reason why Jaylen kept getting Curry even though they tried to hide him on Hauser or Pritchard. You can try to cover for that by simply refusing to switch (like the Hawks do a lot with Trae) or trapping and scrambling (dangerous because Curry has one of the best handles ever) or peel switching (dangerous because Curry is so good at finding the open man) or just don't play Horford and put Lamar or Brissett in (dangerous because they are probably also getting beat and they are worse at other things) or whatever. I just don't see a straight forward solution to defending Curry. You can't take the ball out of his hands like you can with guys like Dame since he's so good at relocating and getting the ball back.
