Can't believe how many shots the Celtics tripped up.

That last Steph three was insane even by his standards. Warriors young guys did well.

If we had a legit two-way starting SG, I'd feel extremely good about our chances against Boston. They're elite but they're not special. God I wish we had the assets to steal Caruso.

You never thought we had the assets to get dame no one on this board did so i wouldnt be to sure that we csnt find a way to get caruso

BTW at the end of the draft I was really hoping Jackson-Davis was going to fall to the Bucks and if he had and they still took Livingston I was going to be pretty annoyed. He's got major holes in his game, the main one being he has no offensive arsenal outside of about 5 feet. But his touch around the basket and finishing ability, help defense and defensive versatility you're just not going to regularly someone to do those things at a high level at the end of the draft.

I think the hype that Zion had puts him on a pedestal for sure, but you look at a guy like Ayton and you have to wonder how in the **** he's not dominating this league. Ben Simmons as well.

Ben Simmons is different for me. He actually did achieve a heap in a short time, and then never got any better. If he stayed as he was, he would still have had a fantastic career, but a what if? with his jumper. But then he got that mental block, and he doesn't seem to have had the maturity or mental fortitude to overcome it. And then he got the injuries. I think he's always worked pretty hard too.

I am definitely not trying to downplay the effects of his mental health issues. He and Fultz are the big NBA examples of how those problems can be as destructive as physical ones. Fultz seems to have developed the strength to overcome his, whereas now that Ben may have, his body is failing him.

Zion had unreal hype, and for good reason, but also is not living up to it for the exact reason that a lot of people feared, so the "expectations" question is double-barrelled with him.

Zion had insane hype but at the same time it felt like everybody kind of knew or at least worried he was a flash in the pan as in he wasn't ever going to have a long healthy career built like he is, his build is one that could balloon up well past 300lbs easy. Reminds me of Prince Fielder, enjoy him while he's healthy and in shape enough to play. Too bad the NBA doesn't have something like a DH so fatasses can just play one side of the floor. Zion is a football lineman playing basketball, at least he saved himself the brain trauma.

Man, Bontemps is obnoxious. "The Celtics don't really have any weaknesses" is a thing a guy paid to talk about basketball said on a national podcast with great sincerity.

Lack of halfcourt organization when things tighten up? Weak bench? Frontline being injury prone/old? Nah, perfect team.

In the eyes of the rest of the world, Caruso's value is significantly lower than among some here. There is speculation that the Bulls might send him to the Lakers along with DeRozan for Austin Reaves and pieces. That's something you wouldn't see if he were really a wing stopper along the lines of Sidney Moncrief or even Jrue.

Sometimes I think these odd fixations are remnants of glory days for those of us who played basketball along the way and see in certain NBA players, especially those like Caruso who are mostly devoid of elite athleticism, a reflection of our own limited selves.

He made 1st team all defense last year... He's also shooting 45% from 3 this year and career .375% Everyone who watches basketball knows he can defend extremely well and he's one of those guys that does all the little things. He's exactly what everyone wants AJJ to be only he is that right now. It's not an odd fixation, he's literally the perfect fit at SG for us.

The thing about Zion is that it wasn't even really potential......he was already there at age 20. He had a 27/7/4 sophomore season on 65%TS. Damn shame.

Uh no. There is no unathletic white guy projection here. Most of us recognize that most NBA contenders have glue guys, who are able to defend, and take the offense when it comes to them. Caruso is in a long line of guys like PJ Tucker, Tony Allen, Kurt Rambis, etc., who compliment stars extremely well.

Robert Horry played 16 seasons in the league. He only averaged more than 10ppg in three of his first four. None thereafter. And those three seasons over 10ppg were 10.1, 10.2 and 12ppg. Yet he’s got 7 rings and everyone remembers his contributions.
